Here's hoping the Raidas get a decent QB in the draft, a good HC, a good OC, and a great QB coach, because if they don't get ALL four, nothing will change. EVER. I have ZERO faith in Mark Davis sniffing a clue.
Maybe I just have a low value on announcers in general..... I want to watch the game, not them..... TV broadcasters across sports, news, and everything else seem too focused now on building themself up outside of just reporting what's happening in front of them. I'd be fine watching a game with mic'ed up players and no announcers.
Back around 1980 give or take, one of the networks did this. End of season game with the Jets and somebody if I recall correctly. No announcers at all. Somebody will look this up. When I watch the Eagles I synch the WIP radio broadcast to the TV and listen to Merrill and Mike over the air
I'd be fine with ONLY an Announcer, no 'color' guy, no sideline chick. Give me Mike Tirico, Ian Eagle, Noah Eagle, Jim Nantz, Kevin Kugler, Kevin Burkhardt, I'd like to say Al Michaels but I can't, he's 'lost a step', and I'll puke before I listen to the moronic Joe Buck. I remember this, but it didn't go over too well.
Easy - just inventing new ways to lose. Or resurrecting old ways. I have no idea how Eberflus is still employed there.
You can add Kevin Harlan to this list. He is one of my favourites. For hockey, he is now retired, but Mike (Doc) Emerick. He was one of the best ever.
Harlan - absolutely! I knew I'd leave out a couple in error. I have not paid much attention to hockey since Patrick Roy was in goal for Colorado... and I used to play it, I still have all my ancient gear from the late 70's/early 80's... Oh, there was a time when I thought I might go play Sr. hockey in the early 2000's when step-daughter wanted to learn to ice skate/dance, I bought a new pair of CCM Supertacks, but I only wore them twice, and I found a REALLY nice pair of Jofa gloves that were $220 but were 'somehow' mismarked down to $45, I could not resist...
Oh thank god for someone telling the rookie center to snap the ball early and get a better draft pick. That was close.
Wow the Bears are happy. The Raiders screwed up a game worse than Chicago. I really didn't think that was possible.
The Raiders have spent a season being not prepared for games or specific situations. The other teams kill them in the 4th qtr. Dumb penalties. Turnovers. Bad execution. Poor play calling. thanks not all on the players but a lot is.
Ultimately Chiefs are bailed out yet again by the referees. The side judge was signaling false start, meaning the play wouldn’t have counted. Instead it turns into an illegal shift. The trouble is side judge threw flag and blew whistle before the ball was ultimately recovered which in turn players clearly stopped pursuit of the play and ball at that point. It should have been "recovering a fumble after the play is whistled dead". Instead it’s an huddle discussion and another game referees hand to Kansas.
I want to see a tournament with: Raidas Behrs Geeants J-E-T-S Arguably the 4 most dysfunctional franchises in the NFL. Strangely, I don't think Carolina nor New England are THAT bad - they do have a bunch of really good players, the problem is nobody has ever heard of most of them, cannot name them, but that doesn't mean they suck. Atlanta seems to be really screwed up, they are among the teams you scratch your head and say 'WTF'? Indy is right there with them. Then you look at the teams that just plain suck for all kinds of reasons, Dallas, Cleveland... San Fran is toast, history. A lot of the issues with teams IS the ENTIRE coaching staff: look at the Chargers, kept most players, changed the staff, have turned things around.
I think the Refs got it right. KC is playing AWFUL when you look at all those sill position players they have. I see the Secondary being REAL LAZY on defense, and someone is going to take care of that and get some long gains on them. I WILL say KC has the two worst starting OT's in the league - I saw them line up practically in the backfield multiple times, dozens of times, and a flag was thrown only a couple of times.... Their ****ty OL play is what will keep them out of the SB this year, you can have the greatest WR's in the game - KC has 4 of them (when healthy), but if you don't have time to get them the ball.....
I thought I was not allowed to pick on Philly? Besides, you are biased... Because for every thing you point to that sways a game one way, I can counterpoint with things that sway the other way. People tend to only remember what happens/how they got screwed in the last 2 minutes of any game, they don't realize/remember things happened in the first half that went the OTHER way. Do you REALLY want to 'go there'? And let me remind you: I'm not a big KCC fan, I am not biased to them. PS: KC has the worst OL in the league - those two guy that call themselves 'NFL Starting Tackles' could be flagged for something on damned near every play.
They got the illegal shift component correct, no doubt. Clearly the line was never set to create a false start. The issue is the side judge blowing the whistle killing the play but then allowing the fumble.
And, Antonio Pierce said the sideline heard the whistle before the snap so some of his players didn't move or participate in what happened after the ball was snapped. It is actually sickening to see this, Goodell is a moron.
