RE: Saints The big news (now somewhat old) in New Orleans is that our coach is moving to Dallas: Sean Payton family's new Dallas spread considered to be in idyllic place. Many suspect Jerry Jones is head of the welcoming committee and that Princeton guy won't be head coach for too many seasons. Anybody need a tightend: New Orleans Saints cut tight end Jeremy Shockey?
No surprises there with Shockey. But Payton, to me that is just silly, because his self-professed 'love for New Orleans' must not be too valid at this point. He shoulda just stayed put and pulled a Lane Kiffin and moved in the middle of the night. What would happen to Payton's house in Dallas *IF* New Orleans were to meet Dallas in the NFC Championship game and beat them?
My thought would be he feels safer raising his family in dallas and the options of much much better schools than are in NO?
Where you been? Carolina signed Shockey a week after he was cut. Payton is like any other 'hot' coach - he just happened to be coaching the right group of players at the right time, that peaked at the right time, and stayed largely injury-free. He's a good coach, no doubt, but he is no better than anyone else. Look at Arizona three years ago - they peaked at the right time.
Doubtful. There are a lot of NICE places in NO and the surrounding communities that are low crime and better schools, he could have stayed there. You cannot tell me ALL of NO is a bad place, and there are NO decent private schools.
- Favre still hasn't filed his formal retirement paperwork. And why is that? Let the rumours begin... - Will Carolina take (Cam) Newton w/ their first overall pick? They shouldn't, but who knows... - New England has three of the first 33 picks in the draft, the rich will get richer (via trades)? With a potential rookie salary cap coming into fruition, drafting multiple first rounders isn't as salary-cap prohibitive as it would've been in the past. Provided there are at least two worthwhile, can't miss first rounders to even begin w/.
