    Hi Everyone,

Anyone plan on attending the open track day at Louden for cars from 8am to 12pm on Thursday August 18? You need a competition license and a tech inspected car plus the usual Nomex goodies and helmet. Anyone want to meet up?

After sevral phone calls I was under the impression that long sleves and pants will suffice. SNELL / DOT Helmet will be needed though.

I will be there all day. A car in the AM and my bike in the afternoon.

WOW, those are some laid back rules for a race track. Color me as you will, yet i feel safer in Nomex. Would enjoy looking you up, what car will you be driving? Will be bringing the red 308 so please look for me. Would enjoy meeting another Fchatter :)

I believe we met at Verell's BBQ a few weeks ago. I brought my Aprilia race bike with me.

Well, looks like i will be there.... less 1 Fcar :( Seems the blown out shock will not be replaced in time and as such, driving on a track with a bad front passenger side shock is not a good thing. i am soooooooooo bummed!!!

Will still show up and look forward to seing you there.

Hell, wonder if i could slip my new Ford Ranger on the track ;) Surely SCCA or someone has a stock truck seires and i need to test the truck ;)

    Steven,
What happened to the Honda? Needed an FTruck to go with the Fcar? Or you just felt that with moving more into the sticks you needed a truck to be a true New Hampshirite? :)

In theory, Verell and I are going up to the track that day and Verell is planning on tracking his 308 in a training session with Scott.

The Honda was getting VERY long in the tooth and yeah, i needed a truck to haul and move stuff here PLUS be able to actually leave the house in the winter. Of course it can also be a support vehicle for tack racing :)

Look forward to seeing you and Verell there. So... um.... can i borrow the car for a few laps :)

As for the shock, think it blew out due to a defective batch (according to Nick) that they had during the same time i got my shocks. As you may recall, i had a rear shock blow out the moment it was installed and weight was first put upon it so she was not drivable when i sponsored Dyno Day for everyone :(

Hey Scott, I want to learn how to do that..... Or at least learn how to do it much quicker than I can now. :)

Unfortunately there is a difference between wanting to learn something and being able to. I am bikeless for the foreseeable future. Once my wife and I had our daughter last fall she wanted the bike gone. It's not all bad though. I was able to buy the 328 becasue I sold the bike.

By the way, my bike wouldn't have done that. It was a 2003 Fatboy.

    I can understand that.

Its funny you mention fat boy. There was a guy out there last weekend on a Harley Sportster 1200. He took the time to saftey wire and set up a Harley for racing. Now thats die hard. Needless to say he was scraping EVERYTHING on the bottom of the bike.

I would like to thank Verell for showing up at 7:30 this morning. It was a fantastic session at the track. I must say that Verell is a very quick study and learned the basic line very quickly. He knows his car very well and it she responded very well today.

I will admit that learning in a open track day scenario is more difficult than I anticipated. Some of the cars out there are overly aggressive and it there is a lot of information to asimilate in a short amount of time.

By his second session he was hitting apexs with consistency and getting a good feel for the track.

Steven also looked confident on track and had his 308 behaving well. I will definately take you up on the next practice session. Hopefully I'll be able to bring my bike with me too.

As for me. I had fun, and it was nice to teach again. I only wish there was a day we could all go with F cars and have follow the leader sessions.

I did have a little mis-hap coming into 6 in the first session this morning. As I was showing Verell the line, I lost the front brakes for a bit and flat spotted a tire badly. We worked through it for the rest of the day. Verell is an absolute trooper.

    Sorry about the tire sir!

It is my hope that You learned something and will be more comfortable the next time you take to the track.

Thanks again for letting me drive your car.

It was great seeing you and Verell there. Verell looked good as i was behind him. Also, MANY thanks for the tips on gears and braking points as ALL help is ALWAYS appreciated!!!!!!!

Would LOVE to see you on a bike there. FYI: i may have LOOKED confident, but it was a learning experience and that one off at the top of the hill showed me to NOT hug the inside up the hill. Must admit, like you said NHIS is a very technical track and you have to be spot on (whereas Lime Rock Park has SOME leeway per se). And yes, it would be GREAT to have you in the car with me showing me all the MANY mistakes i am sure i am making to better optimize things. My frustration was in the car's gearing as it seemed either too low or i was redlining it to the braking points. Shifting loses time and choosing the wrong great or short shifting loses time too so i opted to red line it. Would TRULY like you to drive her and show me solutions.

Found it interesting that it was the front passenger side, same side that blew out my shock at Lime Rock, but they are very different tracks...

Many thanks to you and Verell as it was great seeing familiar faces at the track, especially someone who can help me get the apex/brake/gearing all sorted out.

Wish i had a drop gear setup...
