Wow, the Leafs actually stole a game from Boston in Boston.
The Leafs deserved that game. The Bruins looked terrible and couldn't get anything done. It will be interesting to see which Bruins team shows up tonight in Toronto. The only plus side to Saturday's game was that I was invited to a meet and greet with Bobby Orr before the game. There were only about 15-20 people and we got to spend about an hour with him. What a great guy.
I was just about to make the accepted 'gloating' post, darn it! I blew off my season tickets after the lockout, and am starting to suspect they're going all the way this year..... Oh well, TV coverage is pretty good these days. Cheers, Ian
It was a good first round, with Vancouver making the Sharks look like superstars. But the route to the Stanley Cup will likely go through Chicago, so barring some big upset, I'm thinking 2 more home games, and then off-season.
Very disappointed after last nights results. I had money riding on all the games and my hometown, stupid idea to bet on, lost in OT and the Caps lost as well. Toronto had a very very good chance to win the game yesterday but a terrible pinch near the end by the Captain. Great game to watch with the total shots on goal being about 85-90 combined. The Islanders and Pen's are a lot closer then expected.
I've been in Bolton, ONT! But anyway, fast Ian, gave up the ducats and now the Sharks are certainly on the prowl. Buh-bye Montreal. And Wild. I think my Red Wings are next to go down in the West. Hope not, but.... Ottawa over Habs in 5 - Price or Budaj in goal - didn't make much difference. It's nice to see Daniel Alfredson and team do well.
I don't understand those drills even with over a decade of hockey experience but I guess it worked tonight!
That is hilarious Jay! Nah, just been to that construction equipment auction yard there.....is it Ritchie Bros? BIG night as my Red Wings absolutely fritter away a two goal lead and hafta go to O T (again) to pull it out. Another cross-country jet ride for Sunday night's final game...
What a game by the Leafs, especially Reimer One thing is certain; Phaneuf blows and is not a very smart hockey player.
Yeah, but Cory Perry got away with murder on the tying goal If the Wings end up losing that game it would have been controversial and a black eye for the league
like nothing better than to have the Ducks / Kings / Sharks and the W coast media markets on board. The Detroit Red Wings are Bettman/NHL admin ignored. But that is the way it is. And we'll be O K. Meanwhile, NYI in O T fall to Sid (did I mention the USA media LOVES Sid?). It is good to see the Isles back, and they have the oldest arena in the NHL if I recall. (Taxpayers in L I have had enough.) Sunday / today is 3 game huge. I can say that Hockeytown will be short of sleep Monday.
I am not a Red Wings fan (although I do like and respect their hockey club and winning tradition) but I have to say I noticed they have been getting hosed by the officials the last few playoff years. Someone mentioned that it could be because referees have seen them the most as they are always in the playoffs...I have to agree with that
A real nail-biter tonight but at least no overtime. The Red Wings looked good. I can say that Hockeytown will be short of sleep Monday, but happy. Leafs won't fade away, and Caps-Rangers also going to 7.... good stuff!
Big time win for the Wings, especially after barely making it in, I wouldn't want to face them if I was any other team. Hawks-Wings should be an excellent series.
Yes, agree Mike.... as long as the Red Wings give the Hawks a battle they have accomplished much with so many new faces gaining valuable experience this season and in the playoffs so far. Meanwhile in the west, SJ Sharks and LA Kings gonna be a grinder - expect plenty of thrashing and banging.
