Must admit, the Rangers - Hurricanes series DOES feature the two ugliest players of the NHL.

    Burns and Zabinajad :(

Wow, Round One just minutes into the first period - Vesey versus Kotkaniemi - the two guys likely the least to fight?
    Not exactly "heavyweights." :)

NYR should just take penalties on purpose…

I went to the stars game on Tuesday. First period was a lot of fun but then tough to watch them slowly blow it and lose in OT.

So now I’m 0-3 on attending playoff hockey games this year. :( Stars fans will be happy to hear I won’t be there tonight

    Rangers again in OT.
    The Bread Man strikes.
    Now up 3-0. Surprising.

Freddie Andersen is useless. He buckles under pressure, which is what the NHL playoffs are all about. He is good until the team needs him most (he's 0-4 in game 7s by the way).

The penalty call in game 2, in double OT, was not necessary, and I believe the referee should not have called that one. I spoke to a friend of mine (who is an former NHL referee himself) and he told me that isn't even a penalty in regulation, let alone double OT.

Now the Canes are down 3-0, and it will be next to impossible recover from.

And they almost blew game 2 as well. What a disaster that would have been if Colorado came back after being down 4-0. Luckily for Dallas they were able to hang on for dear life.

This series is over. That was a must-win for Carolina. Rangers are too strong to blow a 3-0 series lead. I may eat these words, but the Rangers aren't the Leafs :D

Bruins / Panthers game 3 tonight. Each team got a blowout so far - I'm expecting a much closer game tonight. It's going to be interesting to see if Pastrnak's fight at the end of game 2 will spark the Bruins a bit. All I know if Maroon should be hunting Tkachuck right off the bat for the few cheap shots he took after Pastrnak was on the ice.

Quick Canes-NYR Stats. Carolina 0-15 on power play. Specialty teams goals: NYR: 6. Canes: 0. I try not to comment on officiating in any sport. The immortal Gene Hart used to say about playoff OT: It will take a homicide to get a call. Now, offensive zone stick infractions routinely get called in OT. And, Rick MacLeish, where are you now?

Goalie Freddie Anderson lets in the tying goal via a "back-door squeaker."
    3-3 now in 3rd period.
    Whoops!

Looks like I was overly optimistic about Boston/Florida Game 3 on Friday. That was a tough one to watch. My daughter just got home from college and asked to go to the game. I just kept apologizing to her for the game sucking so bad. Last night's game 4 was just a kick in the nuts. There have been some terrible calls this series, but that hasn't been the Bruins biggest issue. Can't win many series when your opponent is taking more than twice as many shots as you each game. Ugh. Florida is just the better team. (That's tough to admit)

Jay, there is an argument t be made that 4 of the best 5 teams in the NHL are in the East. The playoff format is weak. 'Canes #2 overall in points and they are the road team in NYR series, while a team well below them in season points has home ice advantage in their series this round.

I thought the Stars had won that in the first overtime. Can’t believe they didn’t rule that a goal.

Hockey gods were on their side though and now on to the western conf finals. It’s gonna be tough but I need to restrain myself from going to any of the games :D

Waiving off the Marchment goal was crazy. It seemed like officiating interfering in the outcome of the game and if you were watching on TNT Biz was a riot because he outright said “I don't know if that ref's got the DraftKings sportsbook going right now but that was kind of a BS call”. Still the stars weren’t going to be denied and deservedly won.

Biz had some good takes during that intermission report after 1OT. Seems like all the commentators were saying that the review wasn’t going to change whatever was called on the ice. So if a goal had been called it would’ve stayed that way.

I’m just glad they won it in game 6 even though it took longer than it should have. The team also got a few days off before the conference finals start on Wednesday so that’s a nice bonus since they didn’t get much time off after Vegas.

OIL beats Vancouver 3-2 to move on 4 games to 3!
I can't see the Oil beating Dallas now, though. Not deep enough.

This could be McDavid's year....but with Edmonton, the goaltending is always in question. Dallas has a very strong team, but if Edmonton can get some great goaltending they have a chance.

Should be a good series. Dallas has goal scorers on each line and when Otter is on, he’s unstoppable.

Sounds like I’ll be at game 1 so Dallas will start the series 0-1 :(

What if Dallas wins both the NBA and NHL titles this year? Not likely, but it is still possible. Of course, the Rangers already have won. Cowboys fans will be pissed!
