Just as well he's driving a right hand drive car then! What is it with drivers moaning about the lack of power steering? I'm a skinny old bugger, and my arms are at least half the size of his, but I've never had an issue with the steering on either my 328, or my 348, which had bigger/wider front tyres than the 328. Sure, at parking speeds you have to man-handle the steering wheel to manoeuvre, but it's never been the major issue that these test drive videos all seem to make it to be. The clutch bite point is really high? - Sounds like it will need a clutch soon then. My clutch has got 600 miles on it, and the bite point is pretty low. The mirrors are too low? - I'm 6' 2", and can't say that I have to duck my head down to look into the mirrors. Legroom/headroom? - Well that all depends on your body to legs ratio. My 6' 2" height is round about 50% legs/50% body. With the roof panel on, I've got around 1/4 inch clearance to the roof panel, and with UK size 9.5 feet (US size 10), I've just about got room for heal and toeing (not that I'm any good at it - I need more practice). Where the 328 (and 308 before it) does surprise, is in legroom. The 328 is quite a small car (it's only 30mm wider, and 15mm longer than a Dino 246), but even at 6' 2", I don't need to have the driver's seat fully back (as with the guy in the video, if the seat was fully back, I wouldn't be able to put the clutch fully down). To fit in correctly, my driver's seat is a couple of notches from being fully back (in the 348, my seat had to be fully back in order for me to fit in the car properly). The video was ok (a bit less sponsor stuff would have made it better - needs must I guess), but they always seem to leave me asking more questions than giving me answers.
Nice video. My 328 was my daily driver for 8 years and I agree with him re the steering but, as the saying goes, it is what it is! Like so many things, IMO what works OK for limited use is less 'endearing' when you deal with it every day multiple times... I also agree re the mirrors but for a slightly different reason. Like everyone, I prefer the look of the Euro mirrors as opposed to the USA mirrors on my '89. But I drove a 308 a few years back with the euro mirrors and although I didn't have his problem re the angle, they provided a very limited view that was, IMO, "difficult" for everyday traffic.
And one for the "anoraks" among us too, those chasing serial numbers: go at 6'17, and the tattooo etched in the window glass is unmistakeably # 82792, a very late production car... Rgds
