The Dual Personalities of the Ferrari F12berlinetta
I thought the timing of this story (so late in the production run) was more interesting than the review itself. Any vehicle review is basically a planned promotion by the brand through editorial/journalists. There are clearly still build slots available at some dealers (even though many were told the last orders were getting locked in many months ago). Feels to me like availability of F12 is beyond the original plan and they're are trying to keep the interest up. Nothing wrong with that, just surprising this late in the game.
I was at Ferrari of Beverly Hills last Tuesday for my friend's TDF delivery. They had two new 2017 F12s on the showroom. One was being delivered, the other was new inventory (metallic black/tan). The GM said they were receiving occasional allocations. I had read and been told allocations were over. This is not true.
I was told by 4 Asia Pacific dealers that there are no new allocations from the factory but there are still a couple of outstanding allocations floating around. My guess is the upcoming F12M has taken the steam out of some potential F12 buyers and they're waiting to see what the new/updated car is like. I skipped an available allocation in favour of an early F12M. Time will tell if that's a good move or not!!!
When the new one comes out there will always be a handful of current loyal F12 owners who will want to protect their investment and trash the new one as it's always been done with all new Ferraris. Whether NA, forced induction or hybrid. The poor new model will suffer like it's siblings initially. And the next thing we find out is most of them got one ordered.
I don't know about the new one but I think this article hits the nail right on the little pinhead. This is an amazing car for all the seasons and reasons. Hopefully, the new model will be as good or better. That will just give a reason to get it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
