1) That's a good price for a low mile pristine 355 2) A 550 is a totally different car so I don't understand the comparison.
This cars was reported as sold by the 2nd owner in LA back in 2011 for $47k with 9kmiles. Auto check does show the car was in CA at that time. Did the sale fall through and the 2nd onwer moved to FL, taking the car with him, later that year? "1995 Ferrari f355 berlineta one owner up to 2005 second owner till present books, manuals, vhs vdo, tool case, and genuine Ferrari red silky car cover, very nice clean all original car first service has not been performed as of yet all original factory paint and just absolutely beautiful drives as she did brand new we welcome you to come visit and inspect we would be more than willing to pick you up and take you back to any of our local airports as well please bid only if you are ready to close transaction as stated in our eBay auction which is payment in full with in 7 days do your inspection before close of auction and not after we are setting a very low reserve please don't ask of me to disclose our price to keep it fair to every one else thank you and good luck." Make me wonder.
Its about value for money Dave. A 69k 95 355 isnt a good buy. And I can buy an outstanding 550 for that money around here. Or a 360. Or a heck of alot of others. 10k over market would be my guess.
You'd be better off buying a used BMW if you want "value".... My M5 is faster, nicer, newer and more comfortable than my F355 for 1/4 the price! Value shouldn't even be a factor when buying a Ferrari.
Value? I paid 68K for my 98 F1 GTS. I feel I received more than I paid. I would not trade my 355 for a 360 and $100K on top, not a chance in the world.
You took my meaning incorrectly. You can get value for money on your Ferrari purchase. A 69K 355 isn't it. There are better examples. I am glad you like your car and feel the price paid was correct. When was that? If recently, well, I wouldn't criticize your purchase, but you could probably buy that car for less these days - not much though since it is a '98 F1. As for not trading your 355 for a 360 and $100k, now you are just being silly.
Vince, take a look at my sig, it will answer your question. My car has some benifits over the one I posted, mostly I purchased it with a fresh major and new tires (252 miles prior to my purchase). I've gone round and round with Luke regarding value and prices and I still feel that $70K is the top of the market for a low-mile pristine car. But, I will admit that nice cars are gettting harder to find and I'm seeing higher mile cars north of $70K ask. Yes, ask, not sale but the trend is going up. And I'm not being silly at all. A 360 cannot compare to a 355 in my eyes from style and sound. I've said it before and I mean it, I would not sell my car for $250K. I don't think it's worth $250K, but I love the car and I'd have a really hard time finding another just like it. Someone call my bluff and make and offer, you will be turned down
Dave, I'm sorry, but for $250k, not selling your 355 sounds far from insane. The trend for quality F355/355F1's are going up, not down. Information on these cars are growing, along with enthusiasts. They're easier to maintain, easier to remedy, and becoming more affordable then ever. At $250k, I can purchase the worst example and completely restore it far past factory condition. If that offer ever does come your way, I hope your passion for these cars doesn't interrupt rational, sane thinking.
For the record: 1. I agree the F355 is better than a 360 (other than the CS) 2. I have owned a 550 and wouldnt trade my GTS for one (a gated SA is another story) 3. The price of this car is within market (I have been in the market for over a year). 4. I would take 250k for my 95 GTS if someone has the smokes 5. I love the passion of F355 owners. I am the owner of my second - great car.
Also for the record - I feel like you can say one car is better than another if you have owned both. I had a near perfect 2004 gated 360 so I have a decent comparison
You know Vince is secretly lusting for a 355... you see he is starting to look into the market... and he thinks he has a sense of it. He really does not want a 550, just pulling your trousers... because Goth will never make an exhaust for that beast. LOL Cheers
