Where does this guy get his info that hulk had the offer? Not saying he's wrong, just don't know if this is publicly known fact. Also wondering what "amateur websites" he's referring to? planetF1 comes to mind, but seems like a cheap shot.... but not totally unfounded.
+1 If it's true that a contract was on the table but he was holding out for more money he's a very silly boy indeed, as noted in the story..... Take the drive for "minimum wage" if needed then prove yourself. The money would have come. As it is, it sounds like "his people" may have burnt some bridges there. Ferrari won't forget being shunned by the lad. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this is one of the "amateur" sites he references - There's certainly no lack of salivating going on around here too.... Cheers, Ian
Ian how DARE you speak poorly of the salivating masses around here! (I didn't have the balls to go there myself. lol) We are just some car forum with a propensity toward the scuderia. I'm sure there are McClaren-focused groups, MB-focused, Lotus-focused, etc (ok, maybe not Marusia!) but I don't imagine F1 writers pay much attention to the fan-based sites thus I assumed it was one of the "real" F1 news sites that this writer was ripping on. Certainly didn't mean to 'speak poorly' of our little sewing circle though. You may well be right. Fer sure Mclaren have (or had last time I looked) their own sewing circle. IIRC, we've seen a few refuges from there over the years too... 'Criticize 'em, get banned' seems to be the problem!.... Dayum, we wouldn't have anyone left! Anyway, I've lurked at many, even joined a few over the years, and this is the only one I continue to return to. The S2N ratio is among the best. Plus it's very active, particularly over race W/E's as we know..... We may not 'break' the story, but if its significant (or not ), it'll generally appear here PDQ. Irrespective of what language etc. I'd bet there's a few paid journos lurking on occasion...... Hi from me too..... Probably not Gary, more likely the PR/mgmt folks.....
