I am sure you have all seen it but just in case.
interesting Dino or Ferrari Dino twist.

At first reading, it seems Ferrari was concerned with the downside so, " build a Dino"!
later when success was assured, the Dino206gt, morphed into the a Ferrari Dino246gt?

Could it be that the 206gt is a Dino and the 246gt /s is a Ferrari Dino?

In which case, the question: is your a Ferrari Dino or a Dino? Could be answered by the chassis number and build date, much like, is it an L or M

Does the 206gt paperwork say Ferrari? is the 206GT chassis stamped Ferrari?
Does it follow the standard Ferrari numbering sequence or have its own?

That piece of writing is a comedy of errors, and should best be ignored.

The Dino NEVER had a Cavallino rampante on the fuel filler door - or anywhere else for that matter. Instead, the author should have stated that the 206GT had an exposed fuel filler cap, whereas the 246GT was provided with a fuel filler door.
Also, the Dino 206GT was followed by the Dino 246GT, not the Ferrari Dino 246GT, etc., etc.

The Dinos, all the way from the 206GT to the 246GTS, were nothing but Dinos. The blending of the Dino and Ferrari marques come much later, towards the end of the Dino 308GT4 line.

Indeed, Lars. The most authoritative sources of information on the Dino are right here in this forum.

My best to all for the New Year.

While we're on the topic, a new book reviewed in the current issue of T&CC is "Ferrari Design: A Definitive Study." While not persuasive, it is interesting to note that the car on the cover is ... a Dino!

Interesting that the 246 was registered in Italy as

    costruttrice..........Ferrari spa sefac

    modello..................dino 246gt

In the Uk you would never have sold a "overpriced" sportcar for £6+ grand if it didnt have the Ferrari name on it. Maranello knew this and thats why the cars were sold as Ferrari Dino and had badges to that effect.

There is no evidence to support either theory that Ferrari didnt put badges on the car, albeit possibly under duress, in the factory or otherwise. However it didnt stop them putting data plates on the car with Ferrari on it!!

To my knowledge and there was never a
    Dino spa sefac
also, correct me if I am wrong, but the " it's Dino not Ferrari" thing, is primarily a USA thing.
I think they are pulling my leg and I fall for it every time :)
