I picked up a 1978 308 GTS. and was happy to find the Dino 308gt4 workshop manual in the pile of parts he had. I assume it’s the manual for a different car he may have had.
Does anyone have a photo of the original binder that would have been supplied? Did ferrari supply a workshop manual with the car on delivery?
    Regards,
    Joe

That workshop manual is for both cars.

Post a pic of your Ferrari.
    I own a Nov. built '78 GTS serial # 26533.
Where in Ontario are you? We may be neighbours. :)

Thank you for clarifying. I wasn’t sure it would have been provided with the car or not.

A buddy and I partnered on a 78 GTB eons ago and resold it. On the drive home from the previous owner, I had to apply the brakes heavily. Out from under the seat flew an Escort radar detector.

Today I found a nice Cartier Ferrari lighter. I don't smoke so there is not rush to test it. Hoping to find some more treasures but I'm running out of places as I continue to go through the car.

I noticed the antenna for an ancient radar detector in the lower grill of my recently-acquired 328 the other day, screwed down to a block of wood! I followed the wire back a ways and then it disappeared into a grommet near the cowl. Previous owner (#2) said it was in the car when he bought it from the first owner in 2006, but he yanked out the display unit under the dash because it was so annoying.

No doubt the installer chose wood because of its corrosion resistance...

Did radar detectors ever work? I mean if it went off weren't you already painted and busted?

Unlike laser, the level of radar that police use is rather sloppy. The signal "splashes" off practically everything that doesn't absorb the signal. So that is why they had strength indicators on the best radar detectors. These would have been meters, or progressively louder audibles, or lamp arrays. If you had a weak signal it meant there wasn't much to pay attention to. If it got stronger, then you might be approaching a source. Problem was that source could have been a commercial burglar alarm, a police radar trap aimed in your direction, or aimed in the other direction, or something else. It wasn't an exact science but they did help avoid getting stopped.

I used them a lot in the late 80s - early 90s and they definitely helped. Not perfect but saved my butt a few times.

Is your 328 a 1987 euro? It sounds like the one my brother once owned.

It is an 87, but not a Euro.
