Interesting site design, ferrari pics included: http://www.crossroad.tv/
Yes, it's very agitating, plus thumbnails were too small to tell what each picture was. I don't know, I just really didn't like how it resized my browser window to the max, it gave me a negative attitude towards the site overall.
Nice, but convoluted and over designed. Was there an actual POINT to the site? I should be able to tell what the site is trying to get me to do/buy/agree with/join/look at in the first 5 seconds I arrive. Also, hijacking windows is a no-no. As is flash for the sake of flash. From a strictly aesthetic pov, very nice.
From what I can tell it wasn't trying to sell anything, it was just a portfolio site to showcase the photog's work. I'm not a fan of flash for the sake of flash, but that site does a nice job of setting a mood & being intuitive, something most sites fall short on. Hijacking windows is also ok with me as long as it's part of the asthetic (i.e. to get rid of the tool/scroll bars so that you focus on just the content) and not to f your s*** up and sell a swedish made penis pump. At least that's what the designer inside of me says. -Chris
I didnt really see it as intuitive at all. Perhaps that is just the I.A. in me. Gorgeous photo work though. But it just goes to prove my point, I couldnt tell right away that it was just a portfolio site. And your "from what I can tell" statement further reinforces that. hehe. I think Im gonna nab some of his photos for a new desktop montage. The company logo has gotten a bit drab.
Since I don't read Japanese I can only assume the text isn't trying to sell me anything. It's about as intiuitive as you can get for such a high flying design (it drives me bat-s*** when you're left to just click all over the page without any mouse-over movement). Now we've gone completely OT.. -Chris
As a Flash user, I find that a lot of people go into overkill mode with it and take away from the content or the original purpose for creating a site. I'm not saying this site specifically, but with many of the sites with heavy use of Flash.
