I'm in the process of acquiring the Ferrari's in the recent mid-engine V8 segment. I only have room for four on my shelf so I was going to go with the 348, 355, 360 and 430. (all in red and berlinetta style) I was just curious which versions of each of the models would be the nicest for my display? Price and availability are I guess a factor.

I was thinking BBurago for the 348, UT for the 355, HW for the 360 and HW again for the 430. Does that sound about right?

Also, do the colors typically match close enough? For instance, between the 3 aforementioned brands are all of them going to be noticeably different in color? (the Bburago 348 I saw looked darker red than others I've seen)

    Thanks for any help!

are there any other 1/18 360's and 430's then HW?

I'm not too fond of the Bburago 348, but the Mira version is worse and I do not know of any other 1/18 348.

I don't know of any other 360's or 430's than the HW's so that's the main reason I listed those.

I've seen the Mira version and wasn't too impressed, but like you said, the Bburago one isn't screaming quality either...

Any thoughts on the colors matching?

I own a couple of Burago 1/18 360 Modena Challenge cars in red, silver and dark blue and believe that they actually look nicer (interior and proportions) than the Hotwheels 360, despite the fact that they don't have the black window liner. I would also go with the UT 355 over the HW 355.

I don't believe I've ever seen a HW 355B. Did they make one?

Kinda funny, I have several older models sitting around and amongst them was a red 360 I just assumed was a HW that I was going to use for my collection. Upon closer examination (looking at the bottom) it is in fact the Bburago one, which seem to be quite rare from searching in Ebay.

I also have a yellow 360 spider that IS a HW and I compared it to the BBurago coupe. It's easily apparent that even in the weight alone the BBurago one is nicer.

    348 (BBurago)
    355 (UT)
    360 (BBurago)
    430 (HW)

Guess I'm in the hunt for a UT 355 now...

Maisto made the 348 TS in 1:18 I think and generally I'd say that Maisto are better than Bburago. I'm sure you'd find one on Ebay!

HW definitely made a 355 Berlinetta, but the engine cover was made out of plastic and, more importantly, the front bumper looks like it is not angled right from the side. The HW 355B's I have seen came standard in red, silver and yellow.

Here is a useful link. Some have been custom painted and and are a little bit on the pricy side, but their service is good:

Thanks, I'm familiar with them. I'm probably going to end up ordering the UT 355 from Cavllino. I agree they're pricey but then again, not much choice at this stage...

    hello,

I agree with your list of best versions. Some sais the 360 from bburago is better then from hotwheels. I agree but don't forget to paint the sidewindow ;) And I put the hothweels rims under this one.

348 is better then the mira in my opinion. The only dissapointment for me is de roof on the back, and the taillights. For these things I made a solution!!

I converted the 348 from bburago to a spider and painted the rearlights!

when the model was finished I decided to paint it all over (outside and even the interior). As finishing touch I placed UT 355 seats, licenceplates, scuderiashields and logo's on the wheels.

......and here is the result! (sorry for the blurry pics)

    Regards,
    Richy

Wow. Hard to tell from the first couple pics but the one with the wheels and shields looks great. I'll have to look into those shields for myself. Just stickers I'm assuming...

    Thanks again.

    Richard,
nice job on the 348. But if I'm correct you've put the wheels on the wrong way. They should look like this:

    Richy,

How does the color compare to the other ferrari reds? It still looks a bit darker to me. How is it in person?

That 550 looks like a maroon color almost. (sorry don't know the actual name...) The 348 didn't look THAT maroonish too me. Do you have a pic of it next to another red Ferrari model?

Either way, thanks for your help.

    Hello,

I'll try to make some new shots tomorrow, because the pics I have were all taken in the evening and it's hard to make a pic with good quality without the flash.

Till now you may see the difference with these pics.

Whoa! Which two models am I looking at here? They definitely look different! I just received my UT 355 yesterday, but I still don't have my 348 yet to compare. (in fact I'm not sure when I'll be receiving it since I haven't heard from the seller in a week since I bought it! not good.)

Received my UT 355 on Friday and my HW 430 today. I'm quite unimpressed with the 355 actually, especially for the money.

The 430 looks great for being $30...
