Does anyone here have a nickname that everyone calls you by? If yes, does it bother you when someone uses your real name instead of the nickname? As an example; in my group of friends, one guy was given a nickname that everyone started to call him. He likes being addressed with the nickname. I have always known him by his real name, and cannot get used to using his nickname, so now I am the only one calling him by his real name.
I used to have many nicknames, because there were several groups of people I hang around, and each group gave me a nickname eventually. "Ace" was the oldest nickname from my high school days. PE teacher started to call me at his first class, and it sticked. However I noticed some close friend called me Yoshi or Yoshinori as time passed by. I guess Yoshi is the form of nickname, too. Personally, I don't care whichever name I am called for. I care more on the tone of their voice when they call me! I've known some people who doesn't like their name, so they nicknamed themselves. Or some people liked to be called initials like TJ, BB, etc. I personally think calling that person's real name reflects closeness, don't you think?? (not unless your parents calling when you're in trouble!)
I had a few nicknames in highschool- Fozzie Bear, Foz and The Fonz due to my last name. A lot of my friends still refer to me as Foz. Also I have some friends that call me Touchdown. I definitely don't mind when people call me by a nickname though. At the same time I don't mind if those same people call me by my name though. I don't have the Maestro's complex from Seinfeld. Which I think is what you are asking. On a side note, has anyone noticed that when females are referred to by their last name instead of their first, they usually are unattractive? I could be way off here but it is just something I have found to be true over the years.
Wolfgang-Bang Still don`t know what it means....english is my second language and I can`t find it in the dictionary.......some girls called me so after we have spent a night together in my hotel-room in Texas -many years & long time ago
Almost everyone who knows me calls me Couch. Had the nickname since 10th grade. Now that I'm about to be 23 I'm getting a little tired of it, but not in an annoying way. I'm just growing out of the name I guess.
Got my Nickname so young, I don't even know what I would do if everyone wanted to call me my real name...I got it bc it was more unique than a shortened "alex" from alexander. Instead, it has always been "Sonny"...Long story as to why though, as my real name given was alexandros, so the "xan" sound is like "son" and there you have it!
You can tell how long people have known me by what they call me. I have a family nickname that only family and lifetime friends call me. I was addressed by my formal name all through school, and when I went to college, I decided to become Jim. I've been Jim ever since, but I still hear the other names once in a while.
Bang is slang for make love, i made love to a girl, i banged a girl, there are worse, so you are Wolfgang - make love.
i go to an all boys school so i have plenty of nicknames. Since i was a tgransfer student this year friends called me newbs which is short of newbie which is a new person. I didnt like it at first but it caught on. Patty cakes or Patty are names i dont mind eiter. When referring to kids in school its almost always by last name. Only a few have the privelige of being called by their first name. I do agree with whoever said that if u call a girl by her last name it sounds unattractive.
Make love? Where I come from it's more "get it on". Sex with the girlfriend and not with the wife.... Catch my drift?
I have threatened my family with great bodily harm if they ever tell my girlfriend what my nickname was while growing up (Given to me by my Mom)...Wild horses could not drag that out of me! It's a threat my Mom holds over my head to this day!..Boy, do I tow the line with her!!!!
Do you really expect many people to tell you what their nicknames are. I have a couple but I'm not going to put either of them out here!! Since joining here and meeting some of the other owners and FCA members at events, the hardest part is often puting together real names and F-chat nicknames. I still get some of them mixed up! John aka "Jdubbya"
I will let you all in on a little secret...I found out our good friend Carbon is also known as "Blue Whale" McCoy Too young to imagine the meaning though?
"Zeke" in High School In college, I had 2 nicknames: 1. Gramps - I have many of the same qualities of an old man. 2. Hugh (after Hugh Hefner) - I mainly wore boxers, an undershirt, and a robe around.... like, all the time.
sadly, some of my friends have taken to calling me "G-Unit". And they started long before the hip hop group came into exsistance. "G" is another common one.
LOL! I know! I typed my name on GOOGLE out of curiosety and was appaled to see this guy destroy my name! Actually, I heard he was pretty good. funny though.
Doodle. I did it all the time. Scribble on paper, on the blotter on my desk, in the margins of my H.S. textbooks, I just doodled everywhere. My sister, 30+ years later, still calls me Doodle.
My parents' nickname for me was "Goddamnit"... In fact, until i was 11 or 12, i thought that was my REAL name... Ironically, long before adopting McCoy, i was given the nickname "Bubbles McCoy" in high school... Jordan, very funny... Actually, it's not Blue Whale McCoy, they changed it to Carbon Barnicle...
Here are all of the nicknames for me that I can remember: Willie Bucket Willie B. Bucket (most common) Big Business Business(my 2nd favorite, only a couple people call me that one) The Slidell Shark Suarez(not really a nickname) Suare' Swar Suarveza Juan Juanito Don Juan My pledge name was "Im Paul Guido, how ya ladies doin'?" I lucked out with the pledge name, the chicas thought it was cute. A lot better than F*ckstick or Flounder or something else ridiculous. My absolute favorite: The Cuban Missile (I know I know, cheesy college stuff) I don't really mind when people call me by a nickname. But it is annoying when someone I barely know calls me by an old nicknake in order to get my approval. I think it is just weird to do that.
