Nico might make a good team mate but as Ive posted if he harbors greater dreams Ferrari is not going to be good for him. Bad move in my opinion. Massa offers a known quantity and no issues for the weak ego but amazing talent of FA. Nico's record does not speak volumes of talent nor was he touted, from what Ive seen to be a Vettel type racer at all. He's just another good driver overall. No one has stated what Ferrari might actually gain, in quantifiable terms of a driver change other than money if the form of some other billionaire backed not so great driver who is young.
Prior world champion drivers have stated he is a top level driver. I defer to their expertise for the most part, but while he is very good he is no MS. Good at certain things but not inspiring. Enough to perhaps give Nando a good run every once in a while? Definitely. He did it to Schu so why couldn't he do the same to Nando. We have sort of a similar situation to Vettel here. We will have a better idea about Nico when he is in a top notch car, and a better idea about Vettel when he is in just a podium capable car (rather than '92 Williams dominant) with a top notch teammate. Nico has it in him, he just needs the right circumstances. It's drivers like Barachello, Massa who even with the right circumstances don't really get it done. I know Nico is definitely not one of those.
Nico to Ferrari?, I say it's not going to happen next season as it would be too disruptive and Ferrari want things to be settled within the Team so that they can concentrate on giving Alonso the best chance of winning the WDC (yes, that's right, I honestly believe that their whole strategy of having Massa there is purely for the benefit of an Alonso WDC). However, if Massa has another season where he fails to help Alonso by taking points of Ferrari's rivals then I think it's the end of the road for him with the Scuderia.
That I don't know, but I can guarantee you that his icecream was made in Switzerland and not the US. I'm guessing Spruengli. Or Moevenpick at the least. But no Haegen Daazs crap etc.
He's no Alonso, Schumacher, Senna in that they are all very good at everything. Nico is undoubtedly very good, just not at that level IMO.
I don't think he's even a Vettel, Hamilton or even Button TBH. I'd take one of those three long before Nico.

I will not blatantly write him off so early. If his goal is a title Ferrari wont work for him with Alonso at the helm. Ever. He should stay at MB and learn more from MS and vent his frustrations in the gym.
For Me, Nico's yet to show Me that he has anything more than average talent. He's probably as good as Massa but then we're not seeing the best of Massa these days (and it could be that we never will any more, who knows). As I see it, it's a case of: "better the devil you know than the one you don't" for Ferrari at the moment.
The problem with that argument is that he isn't doing anything for the team. They might as well not run a second car and thereby have less repairs.
01 Sebastian Vettel 374 02 Jenson Button 240 03 Fernando Alonso 227 04 Mark Webber 221 05 Lewis Hamilton 202 06 Felipe Massa 98 07 Nico Rosberg 75 08 Michael Schumacher 70 09 Vitaly Petrov 36 10 Nick Heidfeld 34 He's doing better than Nico and Michael! Also, he's not had the best of luck in a lot of races, which hasn't been all his own fault. And if you look at the form of those above him, Vettel and Button have been in fine form for most the year, Alonso's an outstanding driver who has done pretty well considering the car he's had all season and although Webber and Hamilton haven't had great seasons, they've not been totally awful (just not as good as they should be). Ferrari know Massa should be capable of being as fast as those ahead of him which is why he'll get one more (last), chance to prove himself next season. After that, who knows!
He is because he is comparing apples with oranges: Neither MS nor Nico nor all the other people with less points are in a Ferrari.
The fact that there is a 129 point gap between Alonso and Massa is kind of bad not to mention the point gap between Webbo and Vettel being 153. Webber has had a incredibly difficult time with these Pirelli tires for some reason. Hopefully the changes Pirelli are making next year will help a brother out.
Last year...was Webber fighting above his weight class, or was Vettel fighting below his? I'm confused.
A little of both. Webbo was motivated to show us who was boss. Vettels WDC did just that and took some wind out of MW's sails. Vettel now realises just how good he is. A self fulfilling prophesy. As long as RBR puts out great cars Vettel will be pretty good. Nico had the stuff early on and did some great drives. When MS came on board a new motivation took place. I think NR has settled for less than his best performance lately. Frankly I'm dissapointed. He must be as well.
Both. Vettel was just finding his groove and Webber hit the zenith of his career. then he realized that even his best would not be good enough to beat Vettel and went into shock. He hasn't left his fetal position since.
+1 I think we saw last year what he was capable of but this year MB put the kabash on things by using team orders. Now he is frustrated and needs to leave. If he goes to Ferrari he will truly find his match: the best car he ever drove and the best team partner he ever had The outcome will put him more often on the podium, maybe even give him his maiden victory
Complete and utter nonsense IMO! - He's been ahead (in points) all season - *No* team tells their leading driver to move over for the guy behind except in very special circumstances. [Seb may try and help Mark in the last few for example.] If he's unable to stay ahead and gets passed that's a lot different to "team orders". - IIRC, at the start of this season Nico signed a multi year (4?) deal making him the highest paid non-WDC in the field. He'll be just fine where he is. Cheers, IIan
Interesting. If so then Nico needs alot more mental strength to deal with F1 at the highest level. If he is so easily frustrated no need for him to be at Ferrari.
