Crazy. Not sre why he means ''this one hurts''. Prior to the red flag and both of their pitstops he was over a minute behind on Mick (lap 44). Their pitstop routine was absolutely identical so it can't even be about bad strategy. Maybe him being a minute behind hurts...
This is going to be a lonely F1 driver on and off the track. AMuS Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher will no longer be friends. "We are going our own way," Mazepin said. Schumacher had complained in Baku that his teammate had changed lanes in front of his nose at top speed. Mazepin had dismissed the maneuver as a normal duel. Instead, he is now bringing Schumacher's overtaking maneuver in Monte Carlo in the Loews curve into play. The Russian felt that he was being taken advantage of. "If you want to hand out, you have to be able to take it.
https://jalopnik.com/nikita-mazepin-says-he-thinks-he-knows-why-hes-been-bad-1847277143 At least we know what’s wrong now. His car weighs 9 lb more than Mick’s so that’s why he’s been so out of form
Let's all put our pitchforks and torches down for a moment and be objective. It is obvious that Schumacher gets tons of love while Mazepin is quite hated. In addition the HAAS is probably the worst car in the field. That said from a performance standpoint Schumacher should really be cleaning Mazepin's clock much like Russell has done with all of his teammates over the years. Could it be that Mazepin is not that bad or that Schumacher is over-rated? Just some food for thought
No he is utterly useless and brings the sport into disrepute. No idea why he is granted a seat. Even stroll and latifi are better.
I think you may still be holding on to the pitchfork. Mazepin earned a Superlicense as per the rules making him eligible for F1. In addition his F2 champion team mate is not exactly comprehensively beating him. Especially in the later part of the season where is the unbiased evidence to suggest he is not up to F1 and is 'utterly useless'?
He is so far losing to mick 9-2 in race finish results. What else do you want to know? As I said, he’s useless and stats don’t lie.
Mazepin ticked all the boxes to arrive in F1. Maybe the FIA should review the criteria to obtain a Superlicense, and that is a different issue, but in between he has the right to be there. It has to be said that Haas is very much a second tier team; even Magnussen and Grosjean could'n't do much last year, so what to expect from 2 rookies?
You may be right, but there isn't much that can be done about it. Also it's difficult to judge a driver in a bad car.
As the drivers always say, priority number one is to beat your teammate. What else can he do in the worst car on the grid? Oh - and to further reinforce my point, micks domination of Mazespin is is better than any other driver pairing on the grid including saint Russell, leclerc, Verstappen, gasly, etc.
From what I have seen, Mazepin is overrated (not deserving of being in any seat in F1) While Schumacher does not look any better than a random rookie. In Schumacher's case, you can put some of that down to the car. In Mazepin's case, you cannot.
+1 Mick might be the marginally better driver, but neither have the spark others have shown early on. Early days of course so far.
To be honest, at least in karting and single seaters, there wasn't much difference in talent between them.
Lots of superlicense holders out there don't have a seat, because daddy's not a politically-connected billionaire. I'd much rather see Albon or Hulkenberg driving than Mazepin. I bet they'd probably do better too.
Oh for sure. It's a business, even if they do it ****ty sometimes. I get it. I don't like it, but I get it. I just hope nobody dies tomorrow in the massive crash that looms at Radillon.
