I recently had a chance to try to Nintendo 3DS myself. Yes, it is a 3D screen without the need for 3D glasses. My feedback: 1 - Narrow field from which you can see the image. You need to be directly looking at the scree to see the 3D image. Viewing from an angle, doesn't work. 2 - Instead of the image "poping" out of the screen towards you like with regular 3D effects, the image has depth. In other words, the opposite of the standard 3D. You see inside the image. But it is awesome!!!...your kids will love it!!!!
It's very cool - we picked up 2 for my kids - the games that use the real background are amazing! I love the Face Raiders - very cool!
