Of course on the GTR board everyone thinks i am crazy for thinking of it.... I wanted to hear the ferrari owner's thoughts on why you would or would not do the trade.

    thanks

Most definitely need more info on the 360. Very well optioned 360s can be bought for the same money as a GTR(an even trade) The model year of the 360 would probably have to be somewhat newer to justify the 20k atop the GTR. The two cars are opposites and you should consider the differences between the two. I don't know what type of driving you use the GTR for. Be it a DD, track toy, or both, the 360 will more than likely be a very different daily driver. I'm not knocking the 360 as a daily but F cars are just more special. I feel if I were to drive mine everyday the lust factor would slowly go away. As would the resale and front bumper.

I really believe money in this case is irrelevant. The two cars are apples and oranges. You have to just go with your heart and what you're looking for in a vehicle.

To me, the Nissan isn't even a close second to the 360. In fact, it may not even make my list as a possible substitute.

    Each to their own though!

A friend of a friend is selling his GTR with about 1,900 miles for $65,000. If you add $20k to this it puts you in the ballpark of what 360's, depending on options, are going for. As said in a previous post, it all comes down to what you want. The car comparison is apples and oranges.

Find a way to do both or don't do it.

These are VERY different cars. I don't think either is a suitable "replacement" for the other.

I have an M5 and a 360 spider...a best of both worlds situation in my view. A buddy of mine (and fellow fchatter) has a CS and a GTR he seems quite happy with the combo.

Get creative and make it happen.

In terms of perf the GTR will DESTROY the 360,but if the 360 is in good condition well a F is a F..

if you have a GTR - keep it and the 20 grand .... going into a 360 from that you will be disappointed on so many levels ..... not even a comparison.

the GTR is almost free in maintence, and faster, and driveable every day .... 3 things the 360 will not be able to do. The fact you are even asking this question, your not happy with the the GTR - the 360 will not make you happy either when you get a bill every 36 - 48 months to do belts.

I'm told by a GTR owner it's not that cheap to maintain. Some of the fluid changes are quite expensive along with brakes and god forbid you track it. Not as cheap as you would expect.

I would not consider a GTR over a 360 any day. The 360 oozes class, style and elegance. The GTR? Not so much. I don't care if it is faster, stronger, better, etc.

Go with what you want. You know the responses you're going to get here.

Nissan can never compare to the Ferrari experience. The extra cost is of much enjoyment

performance wise 430 is closer in performance , drivers satisfaction and enjoyment 360 is just fine. I would take the 20k and use it as a down payment towards a 360. then for the price of a 430 you have the best of both worlds .

Sorry, the GTR does nothing for me. No soul, all electronic gimmickry.

Spend $300 on a PS3 and Grand Turismo 5 if you want the Nissan. The depreciation won't be as bad and you get a nice BluRay player as part of the deal.

Is it me or has the honeymoon halo effect already gone on this car? When it first arrived, folks couldn't stop gushing about it but these days you just don't hear much.

Before you do anything have a test drive, both you and owner with both vehicles try make a day of it and get some quality time behind the wheel. Then make a logical choice.

Funny how over here the R35s get just as much attention if not more attention then real exotics.

Sure, why not? Notwithstanding we have no details on the GTR nor the 360 you're considering, still, why not?

I love to trade (or buy/sell) cars frequently. None of this car stuff makes and financial sense (except for the very few in the biz that I liken to professional card players).

R35 has a culture following amongst young people due to its appearance in video games...

If you really have Ferrari in your blood and your dreams, then you already know the answer.

I waited 52 years for mine and if all goes well there will always be an F-Car in my life from now on. Other cars will come and go......an F-Car is forever for me.

No one needs to convince you of what you really want...........Steve
