ive owned 2 of those nissans - theyre called pulsar gti btw not sunny (except for the 70 or so official uk versions imported)
basically they were a homologation special for early 90's world rallying
    2 litre turbo
    4wd
220bhp standard and as theyre a turbo its a very tuneable car.

both of mine had around 300 bhp and were proper fast - 0-60 4.7s, quarter mile in 12.88 @ 107 (both timed figures on my own car)

very popular car, pretty good value when imported from japan
however, whilst its a good car in its own right why some idiot would put a 355 engine in the middle is beyond me. sure it will be quick, but it'll still be a nissan whatever engines fitted.
Besides, the original engine with a bit of cash spending (way less than the cost of the 355 v8) could be made to give 400bhp+ anyways

I bet it sounds awesome. I have no issues with it in fact commend the builder for letting the engine live again.

That looks like a neat project...I bet the Power to weight ratio is phenomenal...that is if you strip down the car to its max...I would really love to see the build diary on that vehicle!

As the original is FWD (correct?) does this mean it's twin engined with potentially 800hp if the 4 pot is tuned?

It's cool, but the SR20DET is about as stout as 4-cylinders come. He could have had more horsepower for a lot less pain and fabrication (and I'm guessing money) by building the bottom end and fuel system of the original motor and throwing a huge turbo at it. 400 hp is incredibly accessible from an SR.

Then again, perhaps I'm partial to the SR because I have the NA version of it in my car. But ohh, to have a turbo. :):):)

400bhp is available from a gtir engine for under £5k sterling.

anyways i think its a cool project, but i can think of far better places to utilise an f355 engine.

Neat project for an extra 355 engine from a wrecked car. I think the engine and gearbox were well utilized.

It's certainly an achievement, but it would have been better to put the engine in a more deserving donor car. Ideally something italian, good looking but low powered? A Lancia or Alfa Romeo maybe?

I don't think these transplant ideas are bad - like the 993TT mechanicals that went into the VW bus at the Nurburgring. That said though, I think I would have found a more appropriate, or cooler car to put that engine and transmission into.
