    Hey nitrousferrari (Pete!)
I saw a few pics of your intake in another thread and inquiring minds want to know....tell us about your nitrous!!

"spider348" and I were discussing nitrous on a Ferrari the other day and it's actually a great solution to the HP issue in older cars. I mean, most of the time, driving around town, you don't need a supercharger. You only need 300+ HP when you need to lay waste to a ricer, or challenge your buddy in his 328 to a race with your Mondial. A nitrous kit will give you that little blast of HP when ya need it!

So tell us about your install man!!!

    Thanks

I decided not to go with it because I got this weight loss obsession (the car not me) (see thread link below for more details), and I decided to wait and get a Supercharger or a turbo conversion after reading various threads which got me thinking, the trouble with once a nitrous bottle is empty its just dead weight (even with a carbon fibre bottle) on trackdays etc.., and there isn't anywhere close to me that fills them, so I thought if I saved up I would gor for a SC or turbo as this is useable all the time.

I only ever partially fitted it, the carbon fibre Nx bottle in my profile pic is just a mockup of how I wanted it, I never actually bolted it down (I wasn't sure how far below that centre part the gas tanks were, I bought one of Carbonios carbon air intakes and I got a pair of 76mm sillicone couplings which I bored a hole in two put the nozzle sleeve.

I was going to start off with 50hp and work up to 75hp jets, Nitrous Express told me that I would be safe up to 100bhp with a 3.0 V8, but as its 24 years old I didn't fancy risking it as I really can't afford a rebuild.

At the moment I am just concentrating on getting the suspension and brakes uprated and the car as light as possible I have so far shed just over 175 kg's with a max of about 30Kg's to go back on, I would like to shed around 225kgs, lightweight bumpers/wings/bonnet are on my list for next year finances pending.

Don't you have to have forged pistons to use nitrous? Or does the 308 already came stock with forged pistons?

No, You can use nitrous on any vehicle as long as its used sensibly, I'm not sure if they have forged pistons, I don't think so though.

That was a bit of a sore point, the 348 bumpers were promised me by the mod who left.

You can run a separate fuel pump but its only neccessary if you are running big Hp

Basically you just branch off a T piece near the fuel pump and have a fuel solenoid as well as a nitrous solenoid, this is called 'wet nitrous'

'Dry nitrous' is nitrous only, but theres a risk if there is fuel starvation engine damage can occur.

I played around with a fogger blasting into the throttle body on my old motor which had around 100k on it . . . burned an exhaust valve which "motivated" me to finish the rebiuld on my spare . . . the valve that burned was on a cylinder that was showing weak compression . . . nitrous will find things ready to break . . . the exhaust guides in that motor have .02 wear!!! and the intakes about .002-.005 . . . minimal wear in the bores (.002-.003).

New motor's got high comp pistons and big cams and pulls at least like a 328, but I'm thinking about nitrous again.

I designed a spacer plate between the plenum and runners (2V) which would hold 8 individual nozzles and sneak the solenoid under the plenum . . . I've done an EFI conversion so I already have a source for extra fuel . . . . don't think I'd trust the fogger on the new engine. Having the EFI makes things easier.

Some of my experiences thus far.
