Got pulled over in Bergen County for a "noisy muffler."

Anyone have luck beating this or is it a lost cause?

I have a cat-back and it's not exceptionally loud but apparently it sparked someone's attention.

    Would love some feedback.

On the same note does anybody know what the rules are for out of state plates? I would assume they are the same, i.e. if in NJ with a PA plate and a 'noisy' muffler, one can be ticketed the same way?

I got caught with this same issue in Lodi and ended up paying the fine. I do not recall the amount, in the long run it wasn't worth my time fighting it.

The fine appears to be minimal - $54 if what I saw is still current. On the other hand the statute is pretty clear - 95db as measured by SAE standard J1169. If the cop wasn't trained and had the proper test equipment and you care to get it tested then you may have a shot.
