My dealer just informed me that Ferrari of Italy changed all my dealer's MY 2007 430 orders back to MY 2006. I have a 2007 430 on order. It was a December build and confirmed as a MY 2007 . At sometime Ferrari of Italy without notifying the dealer or FNA changed in the computer all MY 2007 builds back to MY 2006. FNA was not aware of this until a couple of hours ago. As of now FNA does not have an explanation for the change but did confirm that MY2007 were changed to MY 2006. My dealer is already getting cancellations from customers who expected a 2007 car. I don't know if other dealers are in the same boat? Maybe someone on the West Coast can ask their dealer if they received this same information this afternoon.

So what does all this mean? Is it just a computer glitch and will be corrected and there will be MY 2007s built? Does this have something to do with the Air Bags? When will 2007s start being built?

All I know is that my car will not be a 2007 model. I'm thinking about
cancelling my order and waiting to see when the 2007 will be built. But it is also possible Italy won't build any MY 2007s or delay the 2007 for months? It's a crap shoot.

My order presently reads --Drive Type M07 US MY 2007 VERSION -- so I have similar question. Will check on West Coast and get back.

I don't have any inside information, but in the past Ferrari has built cars in December that were that model year, not the next year. A friend bought a 2003 360 that was built in 12/03. Of course, they have also built cars in Sept that were the following year model year. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

I checked with my dealership a few minutes ago. A memo was sent to them and they looked up the cars. My car is still a '07. They had one car switched from '07 to '06. So, they are building '07s still.

What month is your build date? I'm thinking November? The other car that was switched might have been an October build? I still don't why my December build was switched back to a 2006 MY?

Ferrari did this when the 360 Spiders arrived in 2001 (maybe Modenas too). The model year run was very long, more than a year, which resulted in very few 2002 model cars being built.

Sorry, I don't know a specific build date but as of 10 days ago I was at Code "10"?

IMO they are trying to sneak as many cars as they can under the wire. This switcheroo is because of the airbag cut off and the fact that they've committed to a total of 2,000 cars total under the exemption period which starts now BTW.

why would anyone care what year the car is labelled as? You know exactly when it was built, that should do it for you - value is on condition not year.

True, but when resale comes around its gonna be an '06, not an '07.

in places like australia , the year makes a huge difference on resale . no luxury cars here hold their value very well and all fall pretty hard so the newer the car the better .

    Did you order sport seats?
There's doubt as to weather they can build 07 model year with sports seats so they may have reverted your 430 to 06.

It's true here too. My dealer told me if there were two identical cars in color, mileage etc. And one car was an 06 and the other an 07 the 06 would be worth $5K-$10K less.

How can you check where your car is in production? Can it be done thru the web? What do the codes mean?

If you decide not to take the Ferrari, I would be interested in buying the car.

Yep. They are very good customers who have purchased 10-15 Ferraris. They don't want MY 06 Ferraris when the sale's order said MY 07. It's not a big deal for them to cancel the order. They get moved to the head of the line when MY 07s are truly built.

My order said 2007 and now that my Spider has gone stage 10 my dealer called and informed me that my car is an '06. I am taking it b/c he has no idea when the 2007's will be built. He said it did have something to do with the previously discussed airbag issue.

You have to be crazy to cancel because of Model year. You're lucky enough to get a F430 imo don't push your luck because anything can happen. I remember my dealer asked if I wanted to wait for an 07, I said no way. Lucky I didn't wait because I wouldn't have gotten the racing seats I wanted badly. Plus look at what's happened now, I would have waited longer for an 07 and gotten a 2006 anyway. I wouldn't get greedy. When offered a new F430 a msrp take it and be happy.

ps: Besides doesn't Ferrari increase their pricing for the next model year? So what'sthe difference? Even if they do not you have to be nuts to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Normally I wouldn't care about model year. But I get a new Ferrari every year. I already have 06 model. I don't need another one. I've cancelled my order and the dealer has already sold my car to the next person in line. I'll just have to wait and reorder when Ferrari can guarantee that the car will be an 07.

    Hi Morgie,

Just got some more info...it looks like my 430 Spider which was an October build will be changing from MY2007 to MY2006 and from what I hear all production through December 31st will be registered as MY 2006 instead of 2007. MY 2007 cars will start production once the factory resumes it in January 2007.

Let us know if you're hearing different. I may change to a MY 07 599GTB...but first I have to get over sticker shock!!!

My dealer called me today and my car is changed to an '06 and is at 10 red. I can keep the car or switch to a '07. What should I do -- the cars will be the same and I am not sure if it is worth waiting until May '07 to save the 5-10K difference in resale between the '06 and '07. I do plan to keep this car for a few years, so it doesn't really matter, right?
