i have heard that there will be no 430 CS made at this stage and for dealers not to take any deposits...very interesting news...if correct then the current CS will be a collectors item. i hope my source is incorrect.

look at this off rennteam . i am confused

i am assuming the guy on rennteam is saying his friend wants a challenge car , not a challenge stradale.
just the way he rights it suggest he might be talking a road version , saying semi slicks etc.
a challenge car would have full slicks ???????

Funnily enough 360CHs were delivered with road going tyres... maybe the F430CH will be delivered with road going semi slicks???

The Challenge cars have always been delivered on road tyres to the best of my knowledge. This was because the road tyres were actually the official "wets" as sanctioned by Ferrari for the Challenge series.
RMV can confirm by checking the Challenge manuals which list the type and size of tyres that were allowed to be used.

It's a bit early to be thinking about a CS seeing as though the F430 isn't out that long. Probably be another 3-4 years.

    Ferrari UK Boss said it.

It was on here on the forums. I cant find it though, ive been looking for a while. There was a big discussion about it. This was some time ago, like back in March or around then....

Your probably the one who is right, i gather that your information is more recent, so probably more correct.

Maybe they have advised against it because the 430 CS's are only going to be LHD???

    Who knows... :(

    Sorry for the delay.

    The 1995 manual states:

'The tyres which must be used exclusively are the "slick" or "rain" types supplied by Pirelli in the following sizes:

    "Slick" front: 245/645 - 18
    "Slick" rear: 305/645 - 18
"Rain" front: Pzero 225/40 ZR 18
"Rain" rear: Pzero 265/40 ZR 18

    The 1999 manual states:

'The tyres which must be used are exclusively the "SLICK" or "RAIN" supplied by Pirelli in the following sizes:

    "Slick" front: 235/645 - 18
    "Slick" rear: 295/670 - 18
"Rain" front: Pzero 225/40 ZR 18
"Rain" rear: Pzero 265/40 ZR 18

So, as 360C states, the CH cars get delivered on the road going Pzero tyres, as these are the control "rain" tyres during the Challenge series.

Interesting to note that the slick tyre spec changed from 1995 to 1999, specifically the rears, down from 305/645 - 18 to 295/670 - 18. Anything to do with the adoption of the rear wing (i.e. more rear downforce, therefore less grip required, hence narrower rear tyre?). A ploy to reduce understeer?

Can't imagine why I would have said that. Pirelli was the official tyre supplier and I imagine it was easier for the Gentleman racers to "handle" a road tyre as a "wet" than a competition tyre. Also a lot cheaper and easier logistically for Pirelli as the supplier I would have thought.

just heard that the 430 challenge car will be about $390 000....pretty cheap but you need to prove that you will race it next year ( such as nations cup ) and not just do a couple of club days or garage queens . scotty you up for one ? i asked for a 430 challenge back bar for my 430 . looks sweet but i'll need to supply a challenge vin number . that shouldn't be too hard

    giddy up

I came very close to getting a 360Ch. The thing that stopped me was the depreciation, which I am sure isn't a surprise to anyone who has read previous posts of mine. At the time the Aussie dollar bought a mere 50c yankee. I seem to recall the cost was $384k Australian and they are worth circa $140k 4yrs later. I bought a 360 Modena instead that cost $375 OTR and I sold it in April this year for $315k (including a boatload of xtra stuff).
So, not a hope in hell of me buying a 430 Challenge! In any case, I own a 360 Michelotto that would eat it for breakfast :)

I wouldn't rush to buy and race a 430 yet...

Pirelli are the only 19" slick available for it, and there is no supply in Australia.

Convert it to 18" is the only way, and 430C have centrelock wheels, so that is hard.

    360C are not that cheap...

Toms 360C is about the same condition as your road car was.... it's the best 360C pretty much anywhere I reckon. $200,000 wouldn't buy it.

Shearmans is almost as nice, and its asking $220,000.

Deans scruffy ones, and Teds old one that was due for refresh was still more than $140,000.

But yes, $180k will get a perfectly serviciable 360C.

Raftis is getting 4 430C I belive, and Teulan is getting at least 1.

I'd wait a while, and buy a crashed one that's already here!

Come on Phil, you know very well that you can ask anything you want, getting it is an entirely different matter. The fact that Scott's is still for sale after 2yrs says it all about $200k+ 360C's.
I could buy one landed every day of the week for $140k duty paid from O.S.
LESS if it was for a real race team and you had the deductions that go along with that.

Ok fair comment, but you wouldn't get all the PHR extras that all the aussie cars already have...

shocks, aero kit, engine mount supports, gearbox mount support, gravel gaurd improvements, TRUSTWORTHY HISTORY, body repairs by reputable shop etc etc

A stock standard 360C, is quite a different beast to an "Aussie" one. A slower one for a start. Stock 360C at PI... 1.38/39 (1.45 average joe), Winton 1.28/9 (1.35 average joe)

Yes true; but does it add anything to the value- let alone $40k odd?

depends on how you look at it.

Tom's car has over $150,000 of extras and mods (engine/box/shocks/aero/exhaust pass seat/etc), so if you wanted to buy it you could haggle, but he could remove all the good stuff, and not reduce the sale price if you think it's worth nothing.

then come shopping for it when you realise you need it and see what it's worth.......

To buy a stock 360C from O.S and make it as fast and as nice as Toms would cost you nearly $300,000.

Tom's is the nicest in the country, possible the world- true indeed. Nobody would even try to make a run of the mill 360C that good; but it still doesn't mean it will make anything like that sort of $$. Happy to be proved wrong; but I won't hold my breath.

i thought the miche was traded for the F50 . obviously not . i have a feeling the 430 challenge will be a massive step up from the 360 challenge if the 430 road car is any indication against the 360 road car

The Michy wasn't traded on the F50; but it is for sale. I still own it, not MM.
