That would mean they've stopped producing 4,5 months ago. Doesn't make any sense at all.

Actually their last production was in Feb / Mar 2007 and that was for 60th anyversary edition. then they will resume production on the updated version in September 07 as a 2008 model. So they actually stopped producing 612 for 6 months which should give them more power to produce 599 and 430 in the mean time. Can't wait for mine in Sep.

That was basically what I was told by my dealer as well. I actually inquired about a 60th anniversary edition, but they must have sold out quickly has they were unable to find one. I'm not sure I'm ready to spend quite that much, anyway.

Actually you are correct. They started producing the newer version on June but it will bw 07MY, Thats why I waited till September so It would be an 08MY. So let me know if there was any new options on this new version as I was told there will 20' rims and a rearview camera.

This will be another factor for the depreciation curve of the 612's on the road

Is this new version (07/08) the one that comes in AWD?

Or is that yet another version for 09 or beyond?

How long till we see the early ones below $100K? 2010?

Seems like there are a LOT of 612's for sale WAY under MSRP. You'd think they would slow it way down and use the production line space to catch up with 599 demand. Then next year come out with a facelifted and updated 612 with the engine and superfast F1 from the 599 and some styling "improvements".

    :/

I think that is more or less what they're doing.

I think the confusion lies in the way it was worded...what was attempted to be translated was that all of FoDs F430 and 599gtb allocation is spoken for and there are no build slots currently for the 612.

Indeed there were no 612s produced for several months. But now - at least in Europe - brand new 612s are being delivered again. Personally spotted one of these new cars two weeks ago. Interestingly, the Euro VIN is now slightly different - ZFFJY54B000XXXXXX instead of ZFFAY54B000XXXXXX.

    Ciao,

    good observation. you may be right. i just recall in 1996 that ferrari didn't produce any 456 GT's and the reason appeared two-fold;

    1) dealers had numerous unsold MY95 456 GT's in their inventory.

    2) demand for the F355 coupe & spyder were strong enough to focus production on that model.

no official proof of this. but i recall going to my local ferrari dealership in '96 and seeing two MY95 456 GT's in their showroom and being told of a waiting list for the 355. i also have back issues of Dupont Registry magazine, including their annual august "italian" issue for 1996 advertising several new MY95 456 GT's available @ LFSC, Kessler, Algar, Continental, etc...

    i know i know, i need a hobby.

Compared to the 456, I think the 612 is one heck of a better car in all respects. I am surprised that the demand is so low. How about a 4 door stretched 612A?I I know F will not produce a 4 door but the times they are a changing. I think it would open up a lot larger market.

You are correct that there are no 1996 456GTs in the US, but are slightly incorrect as to the reason. My memory is that 456GTs early on were in demand.

However, the problem was that US EPA regulations changed that year to require OBD-II. Ferrari didn't have OBD-II done for the 456GT yet, and as you pointed out probably wanted to focus their engineering attention on the 355, which in any event was a higher volume car, especially in the US.
