As far as I know, the last of the domestic versions due to taxes was based on the 308 or 328 chassis, never a 348 or later vehicle. In the 80s in Italy engines under 2liters were taxed at the regular rate (18%) and above 2 liters at 38 or 39% (can't remember exactly). So they sold a 2 liter turbo 308 called the 208 just for the italian market.

yes like the old e30 m3 they convertet it to a 2.0l 16v engine instead of the 2.5l engine but with the same hp for the italian market called bmw e30 320is. Sadly it doesn't had the wide body of the m3.

Ok its been a long time. I didnt got much time for the car and other things and troubles in mind so its basicly stand arround and get dusty. I drove it arround 400km till the first oilchange of the engine and then put it in the garage for years. But in the last month i got some enthusiasm to work on it.

I got the interior done with the 355 dash, longer steering rack, challenge like steering wheel, changed the red belts to black omp ones and so on. I changed the wheels and tires wich are now 235/30-19 front and 305/25-19 rear. I also got my hands on the brakes will fit 365mm x 32 front and rear with 44/40mm brembo calipers. Draw and milled brackets for it and connected with ss lines. Front is done rear not now. Then i got a pair of 355 side skirts i thought it would be a easy job ... wrong they doesnt fit at all so my 5minute job expand to a month job. The skirts are just 20mm to short and in the end to flat. so i cut them in two pieces to make them longer. But till i got time for that it will be 2020. Then i got me a 355 transmission and clutch but that is also a bigger project to switch to the other gearbox mounts and the shifting linkage wich i still miss and cant find it cheap. But sometime i will :) And now i'm looking to get a challenge like rear wing onto the bonnet.

Here are some pictures of it

    SAMY!

What's happening! Good to see you posting again.

How is it running? Are you still snapping output shafts?

I dont know i just thought its time to do something on the car again :D

After i changed back to the original flywheel and a 355 shaft it is not happend again atleast not in the few km it has done till now. I kept the torque low at 550nm so i hope it will survive.

Speaking of torque, WOW does it have a flat torque curve! That thing must pull like a freight train.

Yes i limited it to 550nm. As it is a turbo i can easily effect the torque output by giving more or less boost. I set it to 550nm as this is the lowest value i can reach the goal 600+ HP with a rpm limit at 8000-8500rpm. I hope it will last a while when i finally got everything else done and can drive the car from time to time. If not i collected some 355 gearbox spare parts now so i'm ready :)

Have you checked the air in the tires?

I changed the wheels and tires because the old tires where already 6-7 Years old DOT from 2006/2007. So yes the airpressure is good on the new once. I had the old pushed to 3.5bar that they didnt get squared during the long stand still. But after 7 years the rubber is hard and i dont want to keep them on ... and i change the wheels anyway so i got new tires.
