I just got my first traffic ticket last week, specifically for not having a front plate. I was wondering what I should do as this is my first traffic offense. The fine is $110 and no demerit points. Should I pay the fine, fight it in court or get someone else to fight it for me? What would YOU do if you were in my position and why?

Will it affect your insurance rate? If not just pay it.

You broke the law...pay the ticket! Why take it to court and waste everyone's time?

I went to court this past fall for no front plate, and they tossed out the charge. I showed them that I ordered the clipplate and that was it.

Take it to court. When the judge asks you why you dont have a front plate on your (insert car here). You just answer with one line and it should all go down hill from there. The line is "Do you know who I am?" You will find most judges are completely overpowered by that line and you will be out of the court room in minutes. ;)

Don't waste your time in court - pay the fine...I don't see how you can win this case, unless you had valid reason for no plate (ie it just fell off and you are on your way to home to re-mount it).

Listen to red3555gtb take it to court. Every offence demerit points or not, affects your insurance premium once you exceed a certain number of tickets.

If you pay the ticket it is the same as going to court and loosing so you may as well try your hand at court. Lots of things can happen to get it thrown out before ever making it to trial so there is no point just rolling over and paying the fine unless your time is incredibly valuable.

Well I don't have one vehicle with a front plate... And we don't have the road racing issue (yet). So a couple of issues with exotic ownership are nothing to worry about here. And the best part is we don't discriminate against who comes here (helps to be a redneck) so you will be welcome. And everyone pretty much has a gun or two also. No provincial sales tax. What's not to like so far?

When I was pulled over for not having a front plate ( I had it displayed on my dash which was not acceptable to the OPP ) on Hwy 400, he kept me there for about an hour looking all over my car and paper work for other infractions to write me up on. That was enough for me to order the Plate Clip ( they advertise In Forza ) which doesn't require making any holes in the front end of the car. Anyways on the back of the ticket just check the box to meet the Prosecutor for an early resolution, DO NOT plead guilty or not guilty on the ticket. As well when you go to court bring with you a photo of your car with the front plate in place even if it's not fixed in place........good luck.

I had the option of showing up to the accident reporting centre with the plate on and they dropped the ticket. I ended up taking a pic of the car with the plate on, took my digital camera in and showed them, and that was good enough for them. If you don't have that option, I'd just pay the fine. Time is money.

There are two reasons why police stop your ferrari with no front license plate. 1- they dont have enough to do. 2- they are jealous of you having a nice car and are on a power trip.

A few summers ago I was travelling a straight stretch of road that always has cops monitoring it, as the limit is only 60 kph. I could see flashing lites ahead... slowed down to below the posted speed and passed the cop in the far lane leaving lots of courteous space. He had a women pulled over. He looked at me in my 308 without the plate as he was walking towards the speeder ahead of me. Jumped back in his car and chased me down to the next town. He started yelling and screaming at me because of no front plate. I said to him, "you let a speeder go to bother me about a plate!! " He calmed down a bit and said it was $110 fine. I told him I was taking the car in for deatailing and removed the plate so they could clean the grill. He bought it. I grabbed the plate from my door pouch and with 2 tie wraps attached it to the grill. I hope the lady was grateful as she was let off also.

Interesting idea, but chair pilot products looks much better centered on the car, looks off when it's to one side.

Do you have a pic of it on the GT?

You are allowed to have a printed version of your plate on the front of your car. Daytona does them all the time for their customers. You peel and stick it on and its a perfect copy of your plate, The only difference is it can mold to your bumper.

I also have a plastic fake plate as well, all I can say is don't get caught with replicating a Gov of Ont plate in plastic or peel and stick format.......let's just say the OPP let me have it.
