So a girl I know was telling me that her parents really hate German cars. I have absolutely no clue why. So they go out thinking no VW, BMW, Mercedes, etc. They really DON'T want a German car.

So the day they go out shopping, guess what they come home in?
    A brand new Audi A6.

I didn't even bother to try and tell her...

Actually out of curiousity, is the A6 even made in Germany anymore? I know they moved a lot of production out of the country.

Well it could be built outside of germany but most people go by brand name and not factory. My dad won't buy german or asian cars even if the factories are stateside but he'll buy a ford that's made in mexico.

The fact they would refuse considering a german car shows their ignorance considering they are some of the best cars out there. They definetly ended up with a nice car though even if they don't know its german. (V6 or V8? manual or automanual?)

Save for various parts which come from all over the globe (like every brand), all Audis are assembled in Germany except for the TT which has always come from Hungary.

Amazing - how could anyone not know an Audi is German just by sitting in it?

My stepson was allowed to drive our Porsche 933 Targa a few days to school (last year of high school) when we first got it.

He did a little "show and tell" on this car, and believe it or not - they had a German girl (foreign exchange student) who gave him a little piece of the straightening out that Porsche was NOT a German car, but rather an Italian one. Only Mercedes, BMW, and Volks were German.

She was so insistent on this that he came home doubting his own knowledge and asked me about it. I was able to supply him sufficient written proof of the heritage of the Porsche to go back the next day and support his case.

It made the poor fraelien give a little public cry, but Vincent was a gentleman about it and I think they even went out a few times afterward.

We still call her Kharmine Gheershift (after the character in the old Archie comic strip).

I would but they are asking too much for them at the moment.... So the S600 might get the nod.

I prefer the S600 V12 engine, but pretty much everything else in the W12.

    Edit:

two issues that I have with the W12 -

    1. The A8L owners seem to be having a bit of trouble getting the cars out of the service bays.

    2. I've been told that less then 300 have been brought into the US. That might be nice for an exotic but not your daily driver.

Still like it a great deal though.... Send me a PM if you learn how they like theirs as they get more miles on it over the next couple of months.
