I hardly ever drive my 550 at night but last night I did and I had no instrument lights. All of the external lights worked fine, as did the lights under the row of switches on the dash and up by the map lights. It seems like the only lights not working are the ones controlled by the dimmer rheostat. Moving the dimmer knob changes nothing. I checked fuse 12 and it was fine, which made sense because my fog lights and license plate lights work fine.

Anyone else ever experience this? Curious if this is a dreaded fuse box problem or something only related to the dimmer circuit. Last time I drove the car at night everything worked.

Disregard...I figured it out. Now how it got this way I have no idea. The connector on the back of the dimmer switch was completely disconnected. And not only that, the terminals on the switch were bent so this didn't happen by accident. I've only had 2 guys touch the car since the last time it worked, but I have no clue why either of them would have been anywhere in the vicinity of the dimmer.

It does look like it has been disconnected for quite a while...the bent pin may have occurred after the connector disconnected.
Or it could have been a poor attempt at connecting it, bending the pin making it difficult for the plug to stay connected.
