The Dino just listed on Ebay has no front louvers?
sadly, i looked very briefly at this auction but hadn't paid that close attention to it. this car has other problems as well, yet the price on the website is $160k. i doubt that this is factory correct as i have never even heard of this before. i could only imagine the point was to help reduce cooling as the car is in the north. Without the louvers, and in silver, and from the overhead shot, this car reminds me of a Porsche 904, which is a car I wouldn't mind having. Mark
Looks like a Euro. Has A/C and no smog gear. Headlight covers and no PininFarina tag. Looks funny without front louvers. Nice color mix though. Be interesting to see what happens. All kinds of Dinos coming out of the woodworks. John
I have never seen one like this anywhere. Looks odd to me. Something is missing..Like a toothless shark ........Color is nice. The lighter metallics allow shadows to highlight the curves. Especially so at night under artificial lights.
So, what is the real price of a Dino now? This Dino has a minimum opening of $135,000 and no one has bid on it yet (as of 9/3/2006 at 12:30AM). Does anyone really bid (and buy) a $100,000+ car on eBay? Sure, I might see one listed and then contact the seller and maybe go look at it, but I wouldn't bid on one through eBay. Mark
At first glance, the Cromodoras on this car appear to be conventional Dino wheels. Upon closer scrutiny, they don't have the flanged circular boss for the wheel trim (or the hub cap on the Fiat Dino) to attach to. Instead, they have a solid circular boss with 5 ribs or 'spokes' that radiate from the raised center hole to that boss. Trims cannot be used. Flange-type 'Dino' badges snap into the center hole, unlike the flat badges that stick onto the wheel trims. I've seen these wheels on a few 308 GT4s. Any ideas or insight?
I emailed the seller about the louvers, and here is the response I received (I hope Tom doesn't get upset that I posted his response - I also note that Autosport Designs has a very good reputation, from all that I have heard): Hi Mark, When this Dino was restored the gentleman who owned it descided he preferred the look of the 365P show car with no vents thus it is custom but the original front lid none the less. It is easy to convert to original specs again if someone wishes. Please give me a call or e-mail with any further questions you may have. But then, it isn't quite a Ferrari either, is it? Kidding! Heck, I drive Porsches & would love a Dino - even more so than most cars badged as Ferraris. Does look odd with the missing louvers - not bad, but strange.
Price dropped to $125k - Looks like they are having a very rough time selling this "one off" Dino. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Restored-Sorted-1973-246-GTS-Dino_W0QQitemZ200058944750QQihZ010QQcategoryZ6212QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
First time I've seen these wheels, although I note the spare is correct original. Good looking interior, quite a nice looking car. I don't think someone like Tom P. would be associated with it otherwise. I'd find a set of correct wheels, ditch the prancing horse in the grille and could live with the non-louvered front lid.
wheels are correct, but just a little creative. they placed a ferrari horse as the center cap, did away with the dino hub cap.
Saw these "flat" Dino hub caps and wondered if anyone else had seen them before as I hadn't http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290282657843 Are they for an early Fiat or Dino?
