It's not that we don't like autos, we just don't think about it much. The showrooms are full of stick shifts so it's just the norm.
That's how I am too. I much prefer stick to auto, even though I have an auto now. Funny thing is I still imagine myself shifting and clutching in my auto. I got the impression that the supercharged Porsche in question was modded.
The car was bought then it spent close to 11 months in pieces, chasis rebuilt in lightweight materials, suspension redone, parts of car I did not want were removed, seats from a GT3 shifter and linkage changed, steering wheel changed, certain body parts redone in carbon fiber and then exhaust and supercharger were added when the car went back together, and it has a 9" hand painted skeleton from the Grateful Dead movie on it's rear. It has no traction controls, but has the wheels from a 997TT, the little extra rubber in the back helps. It weighs less than 2800lbs and has just about 530hp and it is the most enjoyable car I have ever owned, and since I've owned about 225 of them, that should say something, but considering what it cost to build it, I guess it better be.
For about 75k (well maybe more if you do not have a connection in the aero space field) you rebuild every piece of the chasis in lightweight material, that was the biggest weight saver, and it makes the car handle better. If you are crazy enough to buy a brand new 103k car, throw away the warranty and not care what it costs, you can do almost anything. This was my 39th and last Porsche, I wanted it to be a car that I wanted, not the masses.
