I find it interesting that the FF trip computer does not display any fuel consumption (e.g. mile per gallon) information. I can't help but wonder if they don't want FF owners feeling guilty about the FF's thirsty nature.

I'm not sure it's that thirsty. It has tall gears, good aerodynamics, and moderate weight. I look forward to it doing much better than my X5M which weighs 5400 lb and has the aerodynamics of a brick.

As for fuel consumption in the trip computer, there is the old saw, "If you have to ask ..." :)

My FF is pretty thirsty - given the type of driving I do (mostly city), I average less than 10 miles per gallon. That is even less than my SUV (Mercedes GL550) with the same type of driving. I agree that one does not buy this car for fuel economy, and in fact cannot really worry about it. I still find myself curious about my mpg, and would rather not have to keep track of the gallons used and do the math myself.

Yeah... I am not surprised that it is very thirsty in stop and go driving. But get out on the road and I would not be surprised if it delivered more than 20 mpg at 80 mph.

It sounds like you are fortunate enough to be able to run it at 80 mph for extended periods. Unfortunately, living in an urban area in the U.S., I can't run it at that speed for any amount of time on my daily drives. I know that means the car does not have the chance to show its stuff. It is still a great car to have and drive.

top secret in the 458 as well. the car knows so it can tell you how far before fill-up but Ferrari does not want anyone to know.

I have a calculator and it's about 15 mpg for driving in RACE mode in the twisties. ~18 mpg on the hwy in Sport mode.
