Been meaning to switch out that Momo steering wheel since I bought the 348 in December. Finally got around to doing it. But I'm not sure this is right. The wheel has wires inside it, but nothing to plug them into. The horn button plugs readily into the wires coming out of the column, but it's not very secure and comes out very easily.

    What am I missing?

(Next project is getting rid of that carbon fiber kit...yuck!)

The wheel in the pic looks like the original (made by Momo)?

The wires in the hub should plug into the yellow horn button. They should also T off to the switches under where your thumbs normally sit.

Glad you're getting rid of the carbon film. :)

The wheel in this pic is the original. It came with the car but wasn't instslled. PO had an aftermarket Momo that was smaller than the factory wheel and thus covered up the Speedometer from 60 to 90. I had to duck down a bit to see how fast I was going on the interstate.

The plugs from the original wheel don't match the clips from the steering column, so I'll have to dig a little more, methinks.

Question: on the original 348 steering wheel, is the center yellow circle supposed to be a horn?

(And yeah, the carbon fiber's gotta go. The plastic interior pieces are my next project. Several of them have the sticky issue, which may be why a PO put the cf down in the first place...)

Yes, the yellow button should be a horn button. So should the blind embossed circles under where your thumbs would normally sit. So three ways to hit the horn in a 348!

Here's a crappy iPhone pic of the wiring for my steering wheel. The connectors with the blue insulators are surely not stock, but all the connectors match up and work so it's presumably close to the way it should be.

Thanks for the pic. That actually cleared things up for me. My connectors don't look like that, but now I know what I missed.

Yeah, I got it all connected just fine. All 3 horn buttons work. Now I just have to figure out how to keep the yellow button from popping out. That round metal spring isn't holding much tension on the prongs.

Do you have a thin zip tie that you can wrap around to hold it in place behind the wheel?

Can't blame you-- they're great wheels. Consider a steering wheel spacer to improve the driving position. Made all the difference in the world to me.

I had no idea you can press the embossed circles to make the horn work....
I'm off to the garage to try it out!!!
    I've learned something today...
    Thanks Mike.

I'm pretty happy with the driving position, actually. Aside from the inability to enter or exit the vehicle with any semblance of grace, I have zero issues with the way the interior is set up.

The steering wheel spacer does not help with ingress and egress so it's good that you like it as-is. I like the wheel close to me, especially on the track, so I put up with the tighter squeeze getting in & out.
