Ok F1 fans, if Ford is pulling out WHO is going to run and fund Cosworth? Anybody hear anything? They are one of the few "orginal" F1 engines left and they are still running, not at the top of the podium but still in the hunt.

They are selling the F1 team assests, as far as I can tell.

Cosworth would go with that, I would think........

No more Ford, no more Cosworth.

While I think somebody will buy up the Jag team and rebrand it as something else, I'm more worried about Minardi and Jordan for not having an engine next year. OTOH it doesn't really matter what engine they put in there and I'm sure they'll just buy up whatever Cosworth engines are left and rebrand them as something else.

Cosworth has been running ads in magazines like Racer declaring that they're here to stay.

    Aren't they a self-sufficient profit center?

Cosworth Racing US is self-sufficient and makes a profit, Cosworth Racing UK is a different story.

    A couple of things:

1.) Jag is pulling out of F1, while Ford says (Autosport) that they are finalizing a plan to be in F1 in 2005 as Ford. So, "Ford pulling out of F1" may not be exactly true.

2.) Ford's Premier Performance Division includes Jaguar Racing, Cosworth Racing and Pi group. So if Ford stays in F1, maybe the Cosworth engines stay, too.

Honestly, I have read a few articles on the internet and in magazines, and all I really see is Jag becomes Ford next year, which is what it was all along. I think right now there are some misinterpretations of Jag leaving.

Mule, that's old news. Ford announced that they are pulling out of F1 completely. The team will probably be bought by someone else, but Ford will not be involved.

Interesting. And double good news for Eddie Jordan: So the Saudi investor will probably not get Jag, but might make a deal with Eddie. And Jordan might retain its Cosworth engines.

Yes, I know now, but I still think Ford will be around in one form or another. We have 6 months for it to completely change again.
