I just attended my first ICF, had a great time, and now find out it is the last one. Damn... I understand that it's a big undertaking... but it's still a bummer...

I thought they did an outstanding job at this year's event.

Excerpt below... see attached for full memo.

    ------------------------

While we had a wonderful 5th Anniversary and have the formula that would continue to
build ICF weekend, we took pause to evaluate the continuation of ICF after this year. A
number of meetings were held to discuss its future, with the result being that on October
16, the Italian Car Club of the Southwest voted to retire ItalianCarFest, after its
    successful five year run.

I thought it was getting better though the years, sorry to see it go.

Well, this year was my first and I had a great time. I really thought it was a cool event.

Ditto on the "sorry to see it go"!

I'm just glad there were 5. Organizing any event is a drain on people, and I can't imagine the level of pain involved in running something like the ICF. I may have disagreed with certain of their decisions, but I applaud their effort and thank them for their contributions to the local scene.

Jerry, Bob and all involved-thanks for a great 5 years. It is very difficult to make an event better every year but you guys pulled it off. We were there for all five and always looked forward to September for a wonderful weekend, we were never disappointed.
Kudos to you all, it was a fabulous run.:)

Oh man, that's bad news. I really enjoyed the two I was fortunate enough to attend.

Maybe since Tillman is so darn good at organizing events, we could nominate him to organize the ICF for 2008 ?!?

This comes as a big surprise to me. I was really betting on this being a long-term event. All 5 years were great to attend as a participant, spectator, and sponsor. It takes so much time and effort to put the event on I know. Maybe someone will step up.

All it takes is time and money, but a LOT of both. Many times during the year, it was almost a full-time job for Bob.

Very unfortunate. The only Italian car gathering in the Southwest close enough to attend now gone. I too looked forward to it every year. Perhaps if it was for profit there would be more incentive. Charity is fine but all that work for nothing?

All exotics welcome at our annual FCA show at Boardwalk Ferrari in June. We keep it casual though, $20 entry fee, hand out trophies, and then off to Shuck & Jive for beer.

Yes, there will still be the FCA event.

I also assume Lamborghini Dallas will still have their show/track event.

And there will probably be a high turnout of Italians at All British (& European) Car Day.
