No More Top Gear

I am hearing that it is coming back in November...if not, the begining of next year with new episodes. Correct me if I wrong.

 

I hope so! Even the bad shows are good, and the good ones are fantastic!

Here's the canned response I received to an e-mail asking about the show's status:

"Thank you for contacting Discovery Networks. We appreciate your inquiry.
Unfortunately, "Top Gear" is not available for purchase. While this
program is currently not scheduled to be televised, it may be scheduled in
the future. Please visit our website at www.discovery.com and check out
All Our TV Schedules for more information."

Funny how they mention it is not available for purchase - my only question to them was if it had been cancelled.

 

This might mean that another network picked up the show and just out bid Discovery for the next season.

If anyone is interested http://www.tvtorrents.com has episodes available in bit torrent form. Both the "Americanized" and the original British aired versions.

Did you see what they replaced it with in that timeslot?? It's a show called Beyond Boundaries about a bunch of "unfortunately challenged" folks from the UK trying to tackle a cross-country jungle expedition through Nicaragua so that they can prove something to themselves. I didn't really want to watch it but I was in disbelief that Top Gear wasn't on anymore and I just stared numbly.

I have no problem with people with disabilities but I just didn't think any of the participants were very likeable. In fact, that guy Charlie Fennell is downright annoying. I'd like to chop his head off with a scythe!

 

You guys should just download the original uncensored UK episodes. They're so much better than the Discovery Ch edits.

The "Top Gear" show was not "taken off the air" but rather ran its pattern.

I sure hope they bring it back. The best auto show there is and one of my most Favorite shows on TV. Very entertaining, can't say enough good things about it.

Im so happy its not cancelled. Since Fifth Gear is never on, that was all i ever had to look forward to on tv.

 

Top Gear is easily the best and most entertaining automobile-related show on television or cable. The production quality and footage is great, and the English humor is fantastic.

I hope they don't pull it.

just so you know it doesn't run all year round in the UK so maybe your channel is just keeping in step, it's off the air at the moment and has been for the last couple of Months, due back in a few Weeks I beleive

I hope that email is truth. I would hate to see us lose Top Gear, even in the edited format. There are no car shows that are even worth watch, an occasiona one on The History Channel and Speed Channel, although my cable provider decided to make that a Premium Channel and took it away. Bastards.

I just submitted a letter politely requestiing that they not change the hosts nor lose all the British flavor (flavour ) in this revamp. Perhaps if enough people say the same, they might listen.

Maybe they considered the show to be too controversial for American ears after Clarkson called the French a bunch of "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" in the Ferrari 612 vs Trains & Planes race to Switzerland episode.

 

Does anyone have a way to put the entire season on DVD? I would buy it.

Nah; they just have to add those sub-titles to translate English to American.
