Did any of you notice that onboard camera shot on the Williams during the Chinese Grand Prix. The camera was mounted low and forward looking out over the front wing. As the car gained speed down the straight, the airfoil flattened out a LOT. Has Ferrari filed a protest yet, or does their car do the same thing?

I think it actually has to be mechanically controlled to be against the rules...of course, I'm just pulling that out of my ass.

If you look at the sidepod mounted winglets during a slow motion video of the cars going over chicage curbing, they wobble all over the place.

All aero devices on the cars are very flexible.

They are allowed to flex as long as it is within certain tolerances. The FIA test the tolerances by placing weights on the wings and seeing how much they flex. I guess the F1 designers job is to make the wings flex as much as possible, but still keep them legal.

A few years ago Ferrari had a front wing that flexed at speed in such a way to generate a lot more downforce. This was deemed illegal by the FIA

I would have imagined that it flexed with speed to create a lot LESS downforce (drag) wouldn't that make more sense? better for top speed, more downforce for slow corners
