The second race of the 2008 Le Mans Series was fought on the hallowed circuit of Monza and featured everything, as manufacturer teams battled for the overall lead, privateers fought for their place on the podium, and two terrifying accidents for Rinaldo Capello and for Stephane Ortelli saw the Frenchman emerge with only a broken ankle.

Ultimately, overall victory went to the Peugeot of Stephane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy, less than a minute ahead of the Audi R10 TDI of Mike Rockenfeller and Alexandre Premat

There's a thread around here somewhere about the Ortelli accident.

To answer your question - yes there are some of us interested in LMS, including one Sporting Director/Car Owner on here! We are supporters of both ALMS and LMS, attending both series. Supporters in LMS for LMP1 -Audi; no preference LMP2; GT1 - Team Modena Aston Martin; GT2 - Virgo Motorsports Ferrari F430. In ALMS LMP1 - Audi; LMP2 - Highcroft; GT1 Aston when they run; GT2 Risi.

Here's the thread I had for the race we attended in Barcelona a couple weeks past:

Here the thread started about Stephane's incident:

Thread for site for following the race:

We were at Monza this past weekend and yes, it was absolutely fantastic. Actually there were THREE terrifying accidents at the event. The one as I mentioned in the above referenced thread was not covered (except by autosport.com w/o photos) and was very similar to Heikki's in Barcelona but worse. No mention of actual speed but was full speed coming into the chicane and went straight (I have photos of that on impact, we were sitting right by there.)

Unfortunately, the endurance racing fans/supporters are the minority here on the FChat racing section. Some of the ABSOLUTE BEST racing takes place in LMS and ALMS and does include Ferraris!!

I have quite a few photos from the pit walk, qualifying, practice, race, etc. I need to get them off the camera onto discs and will post ASAP.

    More this evening . . .

    Carol
