Hello everyone, I would like some advice. I own a 2000 360. I drove it around town approximately a week ago. Yesterday I go to open the driver side door and I dont hear anything. I normally hear the F1 pump prime. I found out the car was completely dead and had no power. So I hooked it up to the trickle charger but after 24 hours, still not one glimmer of power in the car. What could have possibly gone wrong. I drove it parked it and did nothing else. Any advice, before I go tearing through everything. Thanks, Mario
Did you access the battery compartment and check the cable connections? Any chance the disconnect switch under the front bonnet got turned to the disconnect position?
Have not checked anything yet just plugged in the trickle charger. I was thinking the same thing that maybe through some weird vibration, the knob turned and it switched to the off position. I can only imagine that it is something simple as I have done nothing to the car except for drive it and park it.
Sounds like this issue here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/419953-key-fob-wont-unlock-door-car-wont-start.html From my reply, "Check Fuse 74, if the dash lights are on when you turn the key, but the engine doesn't turn over (as well as not being able to lock/unlock your door when pressing the fob)." I think your alarm module has rusted through, and needs to be modified/replaced. That'll knock out Fuse 74. Good luck.
Even when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the first position, I get nothing at all. No lights nothing....
Ouch. Something more sinister (hopefully not)... Like you mentioned, check the battery cut off switch first. Secondly, crawl until the passenger side, and pop open the kick panel (two allen-key type screws), and check the battery and/or battery connections. Nothing else I can think of as yet, until you do that. good luck
Firstly, the trickle charger won't recharge the battery.. it will only maintain it. Take the battery out and then charge it a day/overnight with a regular charger. Once it's recharged and working.. then use it to diagnose the alarm module toast, or other short in the car that's draining power. If it's 3 years or older you may have to replace the battery..
when you said you hooked it up to the trickle charger do you mean you just plugged in the battery tender? because that won't charge the battery only maintain it's current level. if you are using an actual charger i'd just swap the battery and see if that solves the problem. maybe it's so badly damaged for whatever reason that it's completely useless.
I agree I am under the assumption that the trickle charger will recharge the battery. I will have to remove the battery and charge it back up to atleast check off any battery issues.
That is what I am starting to think. It has died atleast three times this year. Anyone know if I can buy a battery for it at my local auto parts store like OReilly or should I just get one from an online store. I like the idea of replacing it with a dry cell battery.
any regular battery will work. i'd go with the least expensive option possible, especially since you're not 100% sure the battery is the issue.
Whew sounds good glad to hear it. I will be at the auto parts store as soon as they open. My Christmas Eve will not be right knowing my 360 is in my garage and not working...ugh
So you are saying that the CTek that I have is not a battery tender! In the instructions it certainly seems like it as it will progressively reduce charge as the battery reaches 14.2 volts are which point it monitors the voltage to maintain it. If not -- exactly what does a battery tender do? Good morning everyone, I am happy to say that she is "BACK." I came home late last night from work and could help myself and had to do a little poking around at 3am. I popped the hood and pulled the manual hood release, turned the master switch to the "off" position and heard one loud beep from the car. I then turned it back to "on" and the car powered up. Although it was weak. I opened the driver side door and I could hear the F1 pump try to prime but again it was weak. So I connected my STANLEY Automatic Charger/Maintainer and left it overnight. Woke up this morning went down stairs and opened the driver side door. The F1 pump primed like a jet getting ready to take off. This was music to my ears. Got in and she kicked over just fine....my son did tell me that he noticed the engine lid not latched yesterday. It then dawned on me that I open the engine lid a couple days ago and must not have closed it to where it latched. Can this kill the battery?
In the past my trickle charger has brought it back up to charge, it just took a little longer than a dedicated charger.
Probably a dead battery. When a battery is totally dead, no amount of charging will be able to bring it back to life
I got the battery back but I can only imagine the battery will not hold up much longer. Will be looking for a suitable replacement. Possibly a dry cell with 50% less weight.
That shouldn't have any effect as there is no light in there to drain the battery. The switch for the hatch is only there to prevent you from putting the car in gear with it open. Alan
