Has anyone noticed that the 575 Superamerica has no FERRARI logo at the rear? Only a Prancing horse. Have looked at many photographs as well as my own and it does look a bit bare without on such a long trunk. Does anyone know a good reason why it was omitted when, from what I can see, all other models ever made (including latest models) have one?

Have Ferrari ever fitted one as an option and is there a recommended location for it?

Hey, never spotted that. That is suprising - the logo is present and certainly looks good on my 550 which is of course very similar in looks.

I'd also love to know if anyone knows the reason it was omitted.

No idea why the badging is different, but obviously the Cavallino in the rear is special as it resembles the SF Shield. I am not aware of any other model using that badge so maybe it was a special badging for a special car?

IIRC, the trunk lid is made of carbon fiber and the shield is actually molded into the weave. Not 100% sure if I'm correct but I think that's how it went down...how's that for a straight answer :)

Anybody got pictures? I am confused, are you saying the silver horse is woven in the carbon?

    Thanks for the interesting comments.

I like the argument that the prancing horse logo on the back might have been used instead of the FERRARI logo, but not sure it is the case. I attach two photographs which I think shows how it is mounted on a raised shield on the back of the carbon fibre trunk. The "shield" appears moulded into and raised up from the fibre trunk, but the Prancing Horse is mounted in the usual manner.

Having researched this, I can tell you that the 612, 360, Enzo, 575, 550 Barchetta, 550, 355, F50, 456, 348 F512M all have both Prancing Horse and FERRARI logo on the back.
The F40 has no Prancing Horse but still a FERRARI logo.
Earlier models (288 GTO, 328 etc) have smaller prancing horse, but still FERRARI logo

In fact every Ferrari I can find in the books has a FERRARI logo.

Strange that the 575 SA does not...and with such a large expanse of trunk it looks a little bare. I have searched many photogrphs of the 575 SA on the web and have found none with FERRARI logo.

Should be easy enough to fit one I suspect?

But I wonder why not fitted? An oversight perhaps?

As if the Pininfarina, Superamerica & Cavallino emblems aren't enough... add the shields... Geez, I wonder how many emblems can be put on one car. I think everyone already knows it's a Ferrari without it having to say Ferrari.

Be that as it may (and many thanks for the useful and constructive reply) it does not answer the question of why the logo is omitted for the first time that I can find.

I also happen to think that with the lid on, there is a huge expanse across the trunk which looks very bare, and I was thinking ity needed something just to set it off a little better. A logo would do just that.

There is a small dip at the rear of the trunk, but I am going to guess because it has the shield-like cavallino.
