Being a newbie to the 355 having sold my 328, I figured on purchasing the car that everything was cool with the two black remote key fobs but then reading the manual I noticed I should have a red "master" fob. Without this master, how bad off am I? It is only an issue if I get a new ECU or something like that and things need reprogramming? Or does this problem of having no master run deeper? The black fobs have the PIN numbers on them and wondering if with this info I can get a new master "red" fob somehow.

Apparently you need the red fob to be able to program new black fobs. Without it, then losing one or more black fobs leaves you short. You can only get a new red fob if you also get a new alarm ECU and fobs as a set, since they are matched, which costs a bit.

AS long as your black fobs are working properly you have no worries. I owned my 355 for 3 years wirh only one black fob. When I lost it , I had to buy the whole set from Ferrari. It was like $1200 for new alarm brain and 3 fobs.

Cool. I won't sweat it for now and may think about making things right when it comes time to sell the car a few years down the road. Thanks for the responses.
