So the Mondi is driving great. Starting, idling, driving. But something is wrong. What is it? Everything feels, sounds, and runs fine. But something is wrong and I just can't place it....

Then I realize that when I turn the key to ignition on, I'm not getting the 2 second Slow Down light that I believe it part of the startup sequence.

I don't know how long it has been like this. I go into autopilot on startup and just wait 3 seconds before turning the key to start so it could have been a few weeks.

My guess would be that the little bulb is burned out.

Anyone know if this is part of the sequence on a 308 carb car? Mine have never lit up, maybe I never noticed they were supposed to. Are they?

hmmm, might need to look into that then, i gues i can start by checking the bulbs, if they are good, where would be a good place to start?

Either the slow-down light ECU is bad or the thermocouple is bad. Swap the 1-4 ECU with the 5-8 ECU. If the fault follows the ECU, then the ECU is bad, if it stays with the 1-4 bank, then the thermocouple is bad. You can power up the 1-4 light at the ECU connector rather than take the dash apart to check the bulb, that way you are testing not only the bulb, but all of the harness and connections from the 1-4 ECU to the bulb.

Could be the bulb. Could be the exhaust ecu on that side. You can test both, but the bulb is easier so I'd start there.
