Hi Lgs, sorry to hear of your trouble, I'm not all that qualified but a few thoughts.......

Was there any work done recently or modifications carried out?

Have you tried killing the battery overnight - this forces a reset of the ECUs and can often cure a number of ailments.

Is there a check engine light lit on the dash and if so have you and OBD reader and can you pull any error codes?

Each bank has it's own ECU but also it's own fuel supply and pump. Are you sure you have fuel and no spark or is it possible there's spark and no fuel?

Not wishing to alarm you, but can you see that your timing belt is in place and intact?

If no spark on entire bank one might begin to consider the ECU and inspect the plugs/sockets for good fit, also check the earth point and perhaps disconnect, clean and reconnect.

I'm sure there's a crankshaft position sensor which might also be inspected.

No doubt someone with infinitely more knowledge than I will be along shortly to advise you further but in the meantime the more information you can post about the problem and how it presented itself and what diagnosis you have already carried out the better.

    Best!

If I had to guess (and that's pretty much all I do here :p).....check out the crank sensor for the bank that's not firing ;)

If you have injection (fuel injectors clicking with engine rotation), the the Motronic control units are getting all of the information that they need (crank sensor, etc) to run the engine. Check for power to the coils on the bank that is not firing, as the control unit grounds the ignition coils. Also check the ground points for the injection harnesses.

Remove the engine bay covers and check the earth points on the two ecu's are very clean and secure, they are a known issue...

Good point, Brian ---- my mistake. It is only with the older CIS FI systems where you could have fuel delivery independent of a bad / absent spark from a faulty crank sensor.

The OP's problem does now sound more like simply a loose / bad electrical connection somewhere in the ECU harness or at the ECU multi-pin connector itself.....affecting the leads that supply power to the coils.

Are you definitely sure it has good fuel pressure on the effected bank? Sounding more like a failed fuel pump...

Woah there! You should do a pressure test at the rail before ordering a pump. You will see a test port halfway up the rail. It's an odd sized fitting so many pressure tester kits may not come with a coupling that fits. You can remove the valve core and jubilee clip a length of fuel hose over the fitting and connect to the guage if you are in a jam. You only need to disengage the immobiliser and crank it very briefly to get a reading....

Good advice Eddie. Always good to actually identify the problem before throwing parts at it. Pretty simple test, a lot easier than replacing a pump that might still be okay.

if you sure that you don't have fuel pressure ,before ordering a new pump you have to check for power and ground on top of the fuel pump conector .you should have power while cranking, i'm not sure the color code but is only one wire w/power at cranking ....hope you find it ....
