Good news first; The engine will run. I took it for a test drive and there are other problem but I can deal with them later. What I need to do now it pass the state inspection. And my timing belts and bearings were delivered today.

There is 32mA's being drawn from the battery. I have an alarm system and the clock work but nothing else is on and these two devices are not the problem. I have pulled all the fuses and relay's and traced the problem going to the W connector pin 5 (key switch), X connector pin 10 (?) and K connector pin 3 ( high/low beam change over and flash switch and the inspection light). The X-10 has a gray/red wire but it does not show a connection in the electrical drawing I have which is for a 1988 328 and my car is a 1986 328. Does anyone know were X-10 goes? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

The reason I'm describing this is because I found out today my turn signals and stop lights are not working and those two work off the same circuit. Are the steering wheel controls a common problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Wow, nice work. It runs, who cares about the lights. Celebrate and deal with that later!

    Go here:

    http://www.ferraridatabase.com/The_Downloads/Manuals_Other.htm

and download the one called "Wiring Diagrams 328 US" (which I believe is 440/86 and should match 1986/87 US 328).

See Fig 6 -- the items that you should be checking are fuse #23, relay u, and the w connector.

Do your windshield wipers and/or reverse lights work? They are run off fuse #22, and fuses #22 and #23 get +12V power from the same place (relay u) -- i.e., if the wipers and the brake lights don't work, you need to look into the (non) operation of relay u; if the wipers work, but the brake light don't work, that would confirm that relay u is working OK and that the trouble lies at fuse #23 or somewhere downstream from there.

    Good Hunting!

Actually, I would pull out any alarm system first. The wiring can be annoying at best and down right interfering otherwise. My 328 had an alarm system...it was garbage...I removed it.

BTW, troubleshooting is a commitment. Download that manual, print it out and write notes all over.

Thank's for the help. The turn signal problem was green terminals on the flasher. Cleaned them and it worked. Now I need new bulb sockets for the front. I'm not going to say what the stop light problem was. It is the simplest circuit for a stop light I have seen on a car. From the fuse to the switch to the lights. Just make sure the moron (me) presses the pedal far enough. Had a ground problem on a license plate light.

The 32mA problem is still there. The drawing for the 86' 328 did not show a connection at
x-10 but there is a wire. It may be considered x-2 it seems the CE panel goes right to left.
I may have to do what MyRob1 did and remove the laminated circuit board and hard wire it.
