    Hi guys!
My new '83 308qv has no turn signals. Brake and emergency flashers work fine. If I'm not mistaken, the turn signals us the same relay as the emergency flasher - is that correct? Where should I begin to look? I was thinking steering column to see if there was power to the switch. Any other ideas? THe only thing I did notice is that the front drivers side flasher is dim. I was going to open it up and clean/and or replace. All fuses are fine.
    Thank you!
    Jim

Your first assessment was correct: check the column switch. These units are delicate, unobtainable new and very expensive, so be careful!

Could be as simple as poor switch and/or wire contacts and a little bit of cleaning will bring it back to life.

Had a similar problem with my 456...flashers worked, turn signal left worked, but no right signal. I cleaned the connection, tightend the bracket and replaced the relay and it worked.

I have no idea where your relay is located, but they are easy to find...just listen for the clicking when the flahers are on...BTW mine was under the dash, left side near the dead pedal location.

Try the easiest fix first. Try flipping your emergency flasher switch several times. All the power for the turn signals goes through it and the contacts get dirty because it's always in the off position. A little contact cleaner would help too. If that doesn't fix it then move on to the more complicated fixes.

    Good luck,
    John

There are three connection box's just under the column coming from the main light switch assembly. One has eight terminals (wipers)and the other two have six but one is red (lights) and the other is white Indicators.

The white box with only six connections is the indicator box.

    WHITE BOX INDICATORS
    1 2 3
    BLUE BLUE/BLACK BLACK/WHITE TO GREY
    INDICATOR INDICATOR POWER TO INDICATOR

    4 5 6
    BLUE BLUE/BLACK GREEN/BLUE
    INDICATOR INDICATOR FLASHER

You can work out which way my connectors no. by the colors.
Use a meter to check if the switch is working. If not then remove the assembly from the column and dismantle carefully (watch the spring loaded ball bearings at the ends of the storks) .
If the stork moulding is damaged then get hold of Verell on this chat, he can remould the end back on.
