I have done the pits of ALMS at Sebring and RA and F1 in Monaco and Hockenheim (before speed limits) and yes it can be dangerous and painful wearing a suit in the sun but there is no better place to get the shots. The guy who didn't pay attention in Germany ruined it for all other reporters. :(

But as Viszla pointed out: they were so quick with the ban, it was probably in the works already

In that they want to control every aspect of the sport you have to assume so.

    Absolutely correct.

Track's insurance carrier's are taking all the fun out of working these events. What
one year is an open area to shoot the next year becomes a "crash zone" and everything
credentialed media must go through these days is beyond belief.

It may be pointed out that the camera man who was struck by the tire on Sunday was
one of Bernie's in-house FOM camera operators, not some schlub from a local TV station.

Turning your head the wrong direction for a split second in this business can cost you either
in the form of a missed shot or the unexpected errant tire flying at you. It's a dangerous
    business.

And some of you are blind...

Nice to see the "apologista" make an appearance, though! Knew that was coming.

I wish it would, Buxton is a joke.

I'm not trying to act like this is the death blow to the sport, but you can't deny that F1 is being pussified, that much is clear as day. Huge cuts in power, huge concrete runoffs, classic tracks being neutered or dropped from the calendar, refuelling banned, pit lane speed limit reduction for next year, etc. I could go on.

In my opinion, a knee-jerk reaction like this casts a dark shadow over the future of the sport. What is going to happen when a driver dies? It's GOING to happen again - and what then? Are we going to be treated to canopies or covered wheels? More cuts in power?

Think about it - they were talking about canopies after idiot Grosjean torpedoed Alonso last year at Spa, and everyone walked out unscathed. I shudder at the thought of how badly the sport will be castrated when we have another death.

For the record, I also believe that that F1 is being "pussified" in other ways, too. You can't test anymore? You can't develop an engine? RPM restrictions? WTF? Is all this "cost cutting" just to save the little teams that can't hang? This is the big leagues, if you can't hang, go field a GP2 team. Most of these small teams that Mosley had such a boner for when he enacted all this crap will eventually go tits up anyway. One never made it to the grid, one is already toast, and we've got more on the verge.

F1 should be survival of the fittest, which is why I'm perfectly OK with the big teams fielding 3 cars - it would be more interesting to watch anyway than a bunch of guys pointlessly running around while having blue flags waved at them for 3/4 of the race.

What I mean by "apologista" is that we have a crowd on the forum that try to rationalize and make sense of every dumb thing the FIA does - the "F1 can do no wrong" types, if you get my drift.

I never understood the FIA; I've never understood why f1 needs them anyways, but your points are valid....
