Has anyone sent this to the US military. Looks like a war crime to me.

I'm as kind as a bull with my horns in your back, but that is wrong on every level I can think of. A few people in that video need their skulls broken. If they were Canadians or British or whatever the same rules apply. I hope this is a poorly crafted April fool's joke. The only thing we can hope, is that they {the few maggots in that clip} are alone in a desert running out of ammo, being picked off one at a time, crying and running.

Bottom line is this: Don't steal **** in front of guys that enforce the law with tanks!

You are ashamed of the whole organization just because a video (that may or may not be real, and may or may not be staged) shows them crushing a car with their tank?

Maybe it was SOP. Maybe there was a suspicous device in the car? Maybe there was a reason for it?

Kind of an extreme conclusion to jump to, IMO.

Seemed like a big joke to those guy's. Whatch the clip agian and listen for the laughter close to end end as the tank rolls over the car for the second time. They did not need to do such a thing. That was pure and simple power tripping.

The last time I saw a tank crush a car it was a lot better executed than this job.

The Soviet embassy guys used to drive around West Germany in black Lada's with diplomatic plates spying on NATO formations during the NATO Reforger exercises in the 70's. They'd spend their time picture taking and basically getting in our way as much as they legally could.

One time I was in a convoy of Leopard IA4 tanks as we were travelling thru a small town outside of Grafenwohr. One of their Lada's cut between our column about 5 tanks ahead of mine, and as we were boogying along at about 50kmh on the paved roads it was the wrong thing to do. The back end of his car was literally flattened and the driver missed crushing the Soviet agents by about a foot...more or less.

After that event......they were much more discreet and stayed at a distance.......

As far as the event in the OP goes......I wasn't there so I can't comment.

Im with Chris on this one. I believe strongly in war. Its like a fight, if you lose its over, if you win your all good. And if you steal ****e your gonna get punished. Simple as that. GO U.S. ARMY! To protect themselves, and kill the rest.

    Mike:

Look at the Video carefully, listen to their comments: "that's what you get for losing" I've taken time to make sure that someone in the US Military with a little authority got the video. This is collective punishment, and its a war crime, period. You can't do that to civilians, the Israelis do it, and the world condems them, we've indicated that we wish they didn't. These servicemen need an attitude adjustment. The guy was a taxi driver, and the car was his taxi. What a disgrace. As to those of you who apparently can't seem to comprend the ugliness of this, you have my pity. Hopefully, you'll never be in a position of having to put up with someone who could do this to you, if they were ugly enough.

Art, it's not like they did this for fun. They were caught looting and were therefore punished.

They are lucky we aren't shooting looters over there.

I understand your POV on this but I'm just not able to feel the same way.

I would never be in this posistion. Heres some reasons why. If my country was being invaded by a occupying force that was there to liberate me from a oppressive Goverment that killed it's citizens I would stay in my house do what I was told and definately not go and loot stuff in front of said occupiers. What they did wasnt right sure. But oh well, everyday Marines and Soldiers are shot at, bombed, and threatned by people they dont even see it coming from. It's almost like a new Vietnam, anyone is a potential enemy. There probally just sick and tired of it and lost all faith in many of the Iraqi population. It's a bad deal over there and hopefully we will be gone and they will have themselves a good goverment soon.

You don't think that was staged? It's almost like a commercial or public service announcement or something.

Hard to say. Good for you Art.

That said, I think we should bulldoze Fallulah into the sand.
With 24 hrs. notice, of course.

That is incorrect. He said "That's what you get when you loot." They need an attitude adjustment but the punishment might have been within the bounds of the interim government "laws". If anyone is blamed it should be the lawmakers.

So some sh*thead lost his car. Personally, I'm already over it. There has been and is enormous restraint on the part of coalition forces. No flag waving ceremonies and low collateral damage in the overthrow of an entire government. Our armed forces get picked at every day by cowards and sociopaths.

    Frankly, I admire their restraint.

These were US soldiers. This is an illegal act, it violates the Geneva Convention, which I do believe we are signatories to. Perhaps if the Iraqis had done this, maybe it would have been ok (I doubt that) but US troops don't have the right to do that, it's a crime, and they got far too much enjoyment out of it. You can't turn a crime into something else.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the soldier said "that's what you get for looting." I'm not saying that the way that the situation was handled was very ethical but if he said it was for "losing" then it would be suggesting that the soldiers were picking on them for being on the "wrong team" as opposed to repremanding them for doing something wrong.

Do you guys really think this is the worst thing that some military personal have done? I highly doubt it. They have probbably done alot worse then crush a car. This is more then likely the tip of the iceburg. More disturbing images will come to light shortly as to the real horrors of this battle.

This is what happends when you give control of a tank to 20 somthings in a postion of power. Just think of the bouncer at dance club and the power trip he maybe on. Or the cop that is also on a power trip. Samething in my book.

If you want to see that actual law here it is:

    http://www.unhchr.ch/html/menu3/b/92.htm

As you can see, this was a crime, a war crime, and those in power need to understand that we aren't above the law. No different than young Mr. Calley (to those of you too young to know him, he killed an entire village, Nixon pardoned him).

Big difference between crushing some looter's car and killing a village.
