Too much chatter from your clacker?

Try this simple mod I just tried with success on a car here...

The bushes wear out very quickly, and they are welded together making repair time consuming..... I have a pair of these off a 3000km F50 that are almost as worn as this 50,000 km 355 one....

the noise they make really spoils the idle/low rpm exhaust note... you can jam a screw driver in the spindle of yours to see how much difference it makes...

This mod just puts some (a little) preload on the spindle to stop the resonance.. I carefully welded the pivot dead centre so that operation is unaffected. It works a treat...

Our fabricator actually made new bushings for one we had making a lot of noise. Has worked well so far...

Yeah, I considered doing that... but then I saw the 3000km F50 ones were shot too... so I thought the amount of labour involved to cut the welded parts away and refit nicely, plus the likelihood of repeat failure, in this case warranted a symptom fix, as it is more economical. This job took 30 minutes as it was out anyway for other work.
