So... who else is going? They should be using the same 1.8mile track configuration that was used at last weekend's member day. I'll be there, signed up in the intermediate class.
One of the other forum members, (robbiepoupart) mentioned that is might be a go. Is it a closed event or is it open to spectators? What time does the track day start? Thanks Darren
Well, aside from the driver's meeting at 8:30am, information has been a bit sparse. I hope it'll be a nice long day. I showed up and took pictures at day 2 of the member event last weekend, so I can't imagine it would be any trouble to come watch. Hell, you could go karting if/when you get bored of watching.
Try www.nolamotor.com. It should have all the info and sign up sheet. We did do a tech inspection for members weekend so I am sure it will be a requirement for this one also. PM me if you want to get your car inspected BEFORE the event.
I'll be there Sunday...flags in hand. I thank the NFL/TV scheduling gods that the Saints game is on Saturday and not Sunday...whew. Fortunately for the drivers it's a 3:30 start so plenty of time to hit the track beforehand. Forza NOLA and Geaux Saints!
And if you don't get enough track time there will be a 14 hour Chumpcar race there the next weekend , go to their forum , might be able to rent a ride . prolly be able to get 1 1/2 - 3 hours or so in a car .
Just want to come down as a spectator. (Driving the daughter's car down and flying back home on Monday.) Hopefully get a chance to meet a few forum members.
I'd be interested in going out there just to poke around and see what is what. I haven't made it out there yet and would enjoy taking a look-see. Any idea if that would be ok?
The guys of Nola Motorosports Park would gladly take you around and show you the facilty, or if you want to just see it for yourself, this weekend will have plenty of activities going on so you can get a good idea of things they offer... If you are looking for a tour from one of the guys at Nola, just asked around for Wes, or Mitch and I'm sure they will be more than willing tpo answer any questions you may have...
430 stays in garage, will be there with the GTR (2012 blue) in advanced There is a 355 signed up Feel just like Peter Egan in the current issue R&T: "Having never been around the circuit before, I have the confident, dashing style of a guy looking for a light switch in a dark hotel room"
I worked the motorcycle lapping day yesterday and had a great time. It was the first time I've seen bikes on a track in-person and it was cool to see the experienced riders in packs as they worked the corners...synchronized leaning should be an Olympic sport. They ran on the North track (outlined in red) and I worked station #10 (red oval). http://www.nolamotor.com/track/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi guys. Just wanted to say sorry about not being able to meet up with some of you at the track day Saturday. We Logged 3,000 kilometers from home (150 miles North of the US border) to Baton Rouge. We got into Shreveport about midnight Friday but I was too exhausted to keep driving so we just took a room there. We drove in to Baton Rouge Saturday but there wasn't enough time to to make it out to New Orleans for the track day. On the bright side we did drive in on Sunday and spent the afternoon taking in Bourbon Street, Cafe du Monde (beignets) and I even tried crayfish, alligator and grits......Man you guys sure know how to eat well. I was amazed how friendly everyone is. Even though the local folks had to put up with my Canadian accent they made me feel like a friend and not a foreigner. Sometimes when you live in a city for a long time it's easy to take it for granted. Don't. It's a beautiful city, with wonderful people and a true appreciation for it's past, it's present, and it's future. I hope to travel to LA again someday, and meet up with a few of you. Thanks Darren
If theres anyone wanting to see a Daytona Prototype running around there , they will be testing a new Riley/Chevy tommorrow at NOLA.
Found on the track's FB page: https://www.facebook.com/nolamotorsportspark [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lmt7xLpdslk[/ame]
Not really. It is normal to disagree on such things. I happen to think New Orleans has an extremely bright future and I for one and VERY happy to be a part of it.
http://youtu.be/Lmt7xLpdslk It is functional on youtube, don't know why the link on NOLA's Facebook page is not working. This was taken from my GTR. I believe that the text I added gives the details of the track, conditions, etc.
14 hour Chumpcar race today ! (Saturday) If your local go on out and see what crapcan racing is all about !
