How did the non-collectable (modern high volume) F-cars do during the last great inflation? I guess the big inflation was late-1970s-early 1980s.

Art collectables real estate all went crazy because no one wanted to hold dollars.

Anyone own during that period and able to recollect how the market for used was?

The big runup in 89-90 price was mainly for Boxer and previous cars, as well as inflated asking prices for new TRs- $275k being asked by dealers. Small increases for used 308s.

A lot of the deals that took place were 2 $500,000 cats for your &1,000,000 dog- little or no cash.

I know one guy who unloaded a big collection in trade for another big collection and thought he struck it rich.

Problem with the newer cars is numbers made- thousands as opposed to hundreds.

As Big Tex pointed out in another thread, the new stuff is used cars with yellow horn buttons.
