Maybe they should rename this the F1 message forum.

For a change of pace (some of must be getting at least a tad bit tired of moaning on and on about Indy) the results from the latest round at Brno are in and the Ferraris (550's and 575's) and the Maseratis did very well.

A 550 won the race followed by an MC12 and a 575. All in all the Ferrari/Maserati combo finished 8 of the top 12 sports.

    Results:

    Pos Cl. Drivers Make Time
    1. GT1 Lamy/Gardel Ferrari 550 Maranello 3h 1:39.652
    2. GT1 Bertolini/Wendlinger Maserati MC12 GT1 + 58.036
    3. GT1 Melo/Belloc Ferrari 575 Maranello + 59.863

    5. GT1 Scheider/Bartels Maserati MC12 GT1 + 1 Lap
    6. GT1 Peter/Rusinov/Buncombe Maserati MC12 GT1 + 1 Lap
    7. GT1 Keen/Halliday Lister Storm GT + 2 Laps
    8. GT1 Bouchut/Fomenko/Vasiliev Ferrari 550 Maranello + 2 Laps
    9. GT2 Lieb/Rockenfeller Porsche 996 GT3 RSR + 2 Laps

    19. GT2 Moccia/Busnelli Porsche 996 GT3 RSR + 8 Laps
    20. GT2 Gosse/Kutemann Ferrari 360 Modena + 9 Laps

For those of you still moaning and groaning about the F1 saga please excuse my interuption !

They're still plugging the holes in the radiators from last week.

Seriously though, I'd imagine that the Brno race was too close on the heels of Le Mans, an event Aston Martin Racing had spent two years building up for,
and they've said all along that they were doing selected FIA GT and ALMS events through the year.

Next year we will be seeing Aston Martin DBR9s competing full time on both sides of the Atlantic.

Good to see Ferrari win again. The disadvantages they had at Le Mans thrown at them by the ACO was completely uncalled for and they are allowed
to run fairly unfettered in the FIA GT.

Again the 550's are faster than the MC12's ... man I'm just pissing myself laughing here.

Has anybody got a 550 I can borrow, I want to cruise past a few Enzo's and SMOKE them.

The Enzo is proving itself to being no better than a Lambo, great on paper but unable to deliver on the track ... and how much did they cost?, could have bought 5 x 550's and one could be a dedicated full racecar.

I think the Enzo will break all records in devaluation ... :D:D:D ... might even accelerate passed the 550 Barchetta. Heck atleast it can pass something ;)

The Maserati MC-12s are heavilly handicapped with extra ballast, restricted aerodynamics, smaller wings, etc. in the FIA GT just as in the ALMS.

Were the MC-12s able to run in their original trim, they would have an unfair advantage. In any case, they have won in the FIA GT even with the restricted versions where as in the ALMS that would look to be a very tall order.

And, yes, you may buy 550 GT Maranellos from Care Racing. Want their number?

Yep realise that ... but in the end you have to do the business on the track while working with the rules. Ferrari (assuming their brains still function) knew the rules before they designed the Enzo ... and yet they still made it physically too big. While I appreciate they were never going to race it ... that is just a stupid reason NOT to atleast cast a casual eye over the rules, just in case ;).
If I was rich enough I would buy one in a heart beat ... stunning car and miles better to my eye than either the Enzo or MC12.

I just saw on Crash.net that one of the MC-12s set fastest race lap at Brno.
